ok but have you listened to the album she dropped this year "Smoochies". I love how she's blending 2000s styles with modern cunty dance-pop. Smoochie Girl and Sticky Fingers are my faves.

I think her moment sorta just passed? I don't know much about her, so I can only assume that the huge (by new artists' standards) break between Demidevil and Weedkiller caused it

I like Hi, It's Me and Itty Bitty, but her complete projects just don't do it for me.

I liked her song Daisy but idk. To me she's just a distant covid memory sadly.

The general consensus is that all her past projects were trash but she served a pop bible with SMOOCHIES. i hate the cover tho

Only heard it one time but the new album, while fun, is highly derivative of other "hyperpop" works. 1 song's instrumental is a blatant Immaterial rip-off, another sounds just like Boythots by Daine. No shade to anybody that likes this album, it is enjoyable. But she's not breaking out as a star, imo, because she has yet to find a signature style of her own. It's a bit of a bargain bin of other people's ideas. The other names in the OP have all established strong identities sans Adela who is in a very different stage of her career than Ashnikko who is 3 full lengths deep. IMO Adela already shows a lot of promise in terms of her ability to conceptualize & execute a distinct vision so I don't see her having an identity crisis as an artist the same way Ashnikko hasn't seemed certain in what she's doing since circa Panic Attacks In Paradise

have actually been meaning to listen to this. the single's great

i have to give it more listens, the few times i did it did grow on me, but i wanted more of the WEEDKILLER sound.

I feel like she's too left-field of mainstream and hyperpop, in the same vein as Dorian Electra. We don't really get to know much about the artist herself. I've never seen an interview of hers. I think of her music persona as an avatar/character like Poppy

I love Dorian Electra too! So cool seeing him featured on that ADÉLA track.

 

SNOW WIFE is another one. I don't think I've even seen her name mentioned on here.

Just gave Smoochies a listen and it's a really fun listen. First Ashnikko project I've listened to in full but I do enjoy a lot of individual singles from her.
