Yesterday I got a phone call from an automated thing saying that my account was compromised or whatever from a location in "Carson City NV" and if it's me to "press 1". I hung up. Today they called me again and I pressed 1, and the automated message said "a Google representative would call me shortly". 

 

I knew it was a scam because Google doesn't really do phone calls. Their security is pretty tight on devices and you get a notification instantly if someone is trying to access your account

 

So this guy calls me and says that I "wouldn't have gotten a notification about it if my account was already hacked into", so "they" needed to "terminate the session from their end". I asked him his name and was skeptical from the start. He said I'd get a notification asking to verify if I wanted to "allow the login" and gave me a number that was supposed to match with the verification. I hung up on him and changed my password twice. He says his name was Michael Halloway he also said it's been happening to politicians, real estate agents and crypto investors , and asked if I was any of those. I said no

 

So I'm just letting y'all know this could be happening and to NOT fall for it   stay alert friends. And tell the boomers because they would definitely fall for this

It was a scam sis. Google won't call about that kind of thing.

The automated one said it was calling from my own phone number. Then the number he called from had an area code of 650.

No. The automated system called me. I played along and then a man called me and sent a notification to MY phone in an attempt to takeover my account posing as a Google security agent.  I knew it was a scam, so I hung up. I feel like I explained pretty well it in my post  though poorly articulated. I'm not an idiot. I just wanted to see why they were calling 2 days in a row 

I've been getting an annoying amount of spam calls frequently as well. Stay vigilant & block all spam and scam calls. Use Do Not Disturb if needed.

Be careful with verifiying your phone number. They can use social engineering to make you think that they are legit and may try to enter your account and then tell you to approve access.

I texted "B****" to him and he tried to call me 3 times

I used to work for Venmo call center and this kind of mess used to happen ALL the time. The boomers and idiots would constantly fall for it. It sucked because they could never get their money back, we pretty much had to tell them it was their fault for falling for it 

I absolutely would hang up the phone, I would have done it far sooner though.
