Jewel's era is really intriguing because the video clearly is making a statement about commerciality and this sort of pop music but everyone just took it for her selling out and making sexed up pop for big bucks, and maybe somewhere along the way she ran with it becuase then it was used in a razor commercial and its meaning entirely flattened.

This is indeed one of the best though.

It really bothers me in other times when popstars make fun of popculture but are inevitably benefitting from it by doing so (such as Pink's Stupid Girls, which doesn't fit this sell-out category but which does bother me in how it punches down at young starlets, it was lowkey bullying).

I don't think Loose is a sellout era. At the time it seemed like she was going more towards pop but if you listen to her first two records the path was paved already and it wasn't really a big departure for her in 2006.

0304 is lowkey a pop bible…i discovered it a few months ago, reminds me so much of addison

Nobody ever thinks of it in these terms but 1989 was a sell out era.

She abandoned her genre and alienated a large chunk of her existing fanbase and diminished her songwriting in the pursuit of commercial success.

Yeah, i mean I get why some should consider Loose a sell out because of the sensuality and sex appeal she served on the era but the R&B that Timbaland put on the record was already on her music and also Loose has those endemic/world music elements Nelly always had. Even Timbaland said she wanted to work with Nelly the day he listened to ILAB or something and remixed **** On The Radio.

Sevdaliza's current Heroina era.

Sorry for those who liked the weird, sleepy music she dropped before but now she's been releasing 10/10 bangers back to back :suburban:

Nevermind for sure but since it's already mentioned I'll go with my second favorite, AM by Arctic Monkeys (if that counts).
