I haven't updated my iPhone in years (still own an iPhone 11) since it was working perfectly fine until this year since I broke the screen. I think I'm gonna buy the new iPhone Air since it looks so cool.

Androids are so trashy I could never leave my iPhone. 

iPhones are the most secure phones on the market and it doesn't hurt it has a great software interface and phone design. 
 

As for cost, Apple has done a great job of keeping costs manageable the last couple of years. Unlike its other products which I'm not a fan of. 

Not just Americans, but yeah obviously..  

I do have an iphone and I like iphones, but there's no need to change it every year   It can last for years unless u break it, but I dropped mine 50 million times and only my glass protector breaks

Software updates would be great. Siri is still a dumb ***** even with AI. You can't split screen / multi task on iPhone and that's been a feature on Android for at least a decade now.

Samsung literally has Samsung Knox.

Apple have brainwashed everybody, not just americans. They can't talk about cameras anymore, because even Motorola high-end phones have amazing cameras. I have a Galaxy S25 Ultra and used iPhone for years, and I can easily say Apple is not worth it anymore. Too expensive with little to none innovation.

The entire smartphone market is incredibly mature now. Apple and Android have never been more similar. They've both stolen plenty from each other and do more so every year. Neither is improving at the rate they used to because the tech is simply mature, like computers. 
 

iPhones are also consistently reviewed to be among the best smartphones on the market by every reputable tech outlet. Thinking either Apple or Android is vastly superior to the other is cringe and weird and just tribalism…about a smartphone. Even more cringe than stans lmao.  
 

The reality is that Apple locked up the USA because America is an extremely wealthy country willing to shell out for non-budget phones. This happened over a decade ago and now Americans are locked into the Apple ecosystem of iMessage and FaceTime like the rest of the world is to WhatsApp. It's also not like iPhones aren't incredibly popular worldwide. You're comparing 3/4 Apple phones to hundreds/thousands of Android offerings. Considering that, their market share is extremely high everywhere. It's just insanely high in the US.

If you've been using Apple products, ESPECIALLY for your music since the iPod days — chances are you are stuck deep in the Apple ecosystem, and 10-20 years later it just doesn't make sense to have to start over and adapt to a new one. Especially if you're a nut with your music library and meticulously tagged and labeled EVERYTHING.

Apple's physical devices are a bit uninspired at the moment, but they remain the only tech company with impeccable design philosophy. Every other tech giant has copied them... especially with UI design. 

 

Not every year is a hit for them, but I remember when the imac design changed and when the ipad's design changed... they were huge changes physically speaking... not every year will bring revolutionary form factor designs, but that is the case with any tech company. I have stopped watching the keynotes bc they are boring tbh and just another marketing tactic... but I actually do love when they introduce new form factors. I use Apple primarily for my personal devices and I love how everything just works like it's supposed to and I don't have to waste so much time troubleshooting like I used to do with a windows ecosystem. 

I would go with an android but the last one I had broke down after 2 years.  My current Apple phone has worked for 4 years now.  So Apple give me more value from my perspective.  Ill

Use this phone until it's not usable anymore.

This is objectively false, most people only upgrade every 3 or more years at this point.  And it's not just Apple, it's literally all smartphone manufacturers, of course they *want* people to upgrade as much as possible, but due to the maturity of the tech, most phones from a few years ago are going to last much longer than phones that came out in the early 2010's.  The landscape is just different now.

Most people buy Apple and other big-name brands because they are well-known for being expensive. It's often a way to show off wealth and feel superior. Sure, there are some who purchase them for the "quality," but that's a very small percentage.

 

It's a worldwide thing, I know some people close to me who act like this. It's all performative bs and they usually don't even know how to use it.

It was understandable to do that six or seven years ago, when there were actual technological jumps that made it worth it, but phones have absolutely peaked. Of course, new goal markers are often posted and set after a couple of years. Right now, the big thing is AI. It's only a matter of time before phones start implementing augmented reality; that's when the next real big jump will be.

 

People, naturally, always want the new shiny thing. But rising costs and stagnant wages have dissuaded people from upgrading like they did years ago. And that's, especially, since there have been no significant upgrades for the last couple phones.

I was guilty of that mindset too, but Samsung nailed it with the Fold 7 this year, and suddenly I realised I'd been missing A LOT!!!

No. Who the hell updates every year? Apple, and most of the big carriers, have programs where you can upgrade your phone every year and I still don't know anybody that does that. I don't even do that and I'd die on the cross for . I'm still rocking a 4 year old iPhone 13 Pro Max and probably will be until it stops getting main iOS updates. 

 

I find that talking point so stupid. Car manufacturers release minor upgrades to their cars every year and nobody is like "why do people buy a new car every year?" Because they ******* don't. But there are a sizable number of people that need a new car/phone/tv/whatever after so many years every year. Which is why things are released every year. 

 

If Apple were really money hungry, they'd refresh more of their hardware lineup more often. HomePod mini is 5 years old, HomePod 2nd came 5+ years after the first. AirPods Max have only received a new port in the nearly 5 years since they came out. AirTag came out 4.5 years ago with only rumors of a new model so far. iPads often go 1.5-2 years between updates
