People on this site name everyone and their mother as main pop girls when in fact they're not 1. Name achievements Legit Main Pop Girls need.

 

I know they need at least 2 #1 Billboard 200 albums, at least 2 #1 Hot 100 singles that charted at #1 for multiple weeks, they need multiple Grammy WINS, and they need global hit albums and singles (going #1 in places like Australia and the UK on BOTH album/single charts).

Calling me a liar in my thread but then claiming Xtina is a MPG in 2025 is WILD

 

 

Worldwide (as of 2025):

 

1) Taylor

2) Beyoncé 

3) Gaga

6) Ariana

7) Shakira

8) Rihanna (she's just last because she's retired).

 

Dua is close but she's too young and her career is too short, but she will be there in a couple of years.

 

Billie, Olivia, Sabrina, Chappel and Charli are B class Pop Girls who haven't reached the heights of the others previously mentioned.

 

Madona is the queen of pop and she's above all of the others previously mentioned but her time has passed.

 

Kylie is a similar case to a smaller degree.

 

Katy was a MPG but the ways she's ruined her career kind of removes her from the list completely :(.

This doesn't make any sense. Rihanna is a main pop girl despite not releasing music for a decade, but Katy is not one despite the fact that she is currently on a huge tour?

You cannot lose your MPG status once you achieve it since it is an all-encompassing category that requires significant achievements.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Adele, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga and Rihanna are the main ones, I'd say.

 

Sabrina arguably too. Shakira perhaps too, but her new music doesn't do that well.

Rather than using chart peaks which can be deceiving I consider a MPG Somebody who accomplishes the following:

 

- Has at least 3 eras with 10m+ Album units (to distinguish them from Fads)

- Can pull off $100m+ tours (to show GP/fan interest)

- Has Year End Top 10 Albums/Songs (to show they have well-known classics)

 

Beyonce, Taylor, Rihanna, Gaga etc. have all achieved the above.

 

Xtina doesn't meet all of this criteria considering only her debut and Stripped did 10m+ units. Even Katy had more longevity and had 3 big eras.

Not surprised by the usual hate Xtina gets, but she WAS an MPG.

No one is pretending that Xtina WASN'T a MPG in 1999 but she lost that status.

 

Fun fact: XTINA is the only female artist ever to reach the status of MPG and who also lost it.
