Does unavailability turn you on?

Featured Replies

I'm in love with idols who will never know I exist

So I guess so yes.

I won't give a random guy in the streets a chance

It used to because I was inexperienced with men going into college. But after a few situationships it finally got boring and I realized how lame it actually is if you think about it, plus I became too busy for it. I was most turned on by it when I was in college taking like 4 classes a semester and with not a lot of money and a ton of free time, so I had plenty of time and energy to spiral/overthink/try to win men over

I'm in my mid 20s now and work a full time job, gym or tennis almost everyday, take care of my dog, keep up my hobbies (music, reading, films, plants, cooking), maintain my apartment/daily life chores, maintain decent communication w my parents and siblings + a few important long distance old friendships, and go out with friends in my city 1-2x a week + travel (even if just a short drive weekend trip) once a month

Between all of that, it just got to the point of either you wanna be in my life and show that effort or you don't. And if you don't and I still chase you, then some/many of the above will have to be neglected from a time constraint perspective. I got to the point of realizing I'd rather build up my future

I don't say that to sound obnoxious, but more to just try to drive home to anyone reading this to pleaseee spend literally just 2 or so months filling up your life, and you will no longer be attracted to unavailability. Okay I'm done with my Iyanla fix my life ass monologue lol

No, quickest way to turn me off.

Why would waste my time on someone that does not like me ? :skull:

Hell no!

I'm in a happy, long term relationship. Had he played games or shown unavailability at any point, I'd be with a different man today lmao

No, the opposite actually. Self-respect aside, I'm too direct and impatient of a person to put up with someone like that once it becomes obvious to me. I usually will call it out once and attempt to have a productive conversation about it, and if it goes nowhere/there's no genuine changes, I move on permanently because the writing is on the wall at that point. Keep in mind I also find the opposite (suffocating clingy codependent people) just as unattractive, so it's not like I'm someone who struggles with being by myself from time to time and expects my partner or the person I'm into to be at my beck and call 24/7.

With that being said, I don't like my time & energy being wasted, so I'm not sure why some people find this behavior attractive when it's the tell-tale sign of someone who is low in the emotional maturity/intelligence department. The d/p can't be THAT good. Maybe my ego is just too big? Lol

Its weird actually because its theorised a lot but personally I think the opposite is actually true

Depends. If it's a playful kind of unavailability where I can feel he's gonna come through in the end then it's really sexy. But if a guy's just being a c*nt under the guise of "ahaha im unavailable like that" then it's an immediate turnoff. A guy only has one shot at acting unavailable in my eyes.

No. It honestly just pisses me off. You either here or you're not. BYE!

i kinda see the appeal, in Carrie Bradshaw's words: 'the exquisite pain of wanting someone unattainable'

however, the older i get the more i'm turned on by stability and consistency. if i sense someone is 'hard to get', they start becoming 'hard to want'

There's no connection between being in a relationship and not "liking" anyone else :suburban:

Somewhat, but that's because I'm often unavailable :dies: My life feels like a never-ending To Do List, several days per week, and I just don't always have it in me to keep up with DMs or hanging out
