Does the backlash Katy is facing rn will be bigger than the one Xtina faced back in the day?

143 had unmatched lashings. Literally nobody comes close. The backlash was so severe that it became comedic.

You can't receive a backlash when absolutely no one in the world cares/pays attention to you… so Katy I guess, she received a lot of hate. 

Leave Bionic alone

 

 

I actually like Bionic, it has some hidden gems like Not myself tonight, I am, Birds of Pray, Elastic Love, Glam, You Lost Me. 

143 had bigger (and deserved) backlash.

Bionic is bigger.

143 has already surpassed all pop girl flops, becoming THEE one.

 

Extra note, Bionic is actually a great album (if you trim the ballad section).

accidentally voted for 143 on that second question thinking that the "bigger" in question was referring to the size of the backlash lol

I feel that 143 came and went so quick. The turmoil surrounding Bionic was so much messier and weird and Xtina's reactions and image at the time were disastrous. 

143 pannings were unprecedented. Katy's flopped hard before, but never in this colossal of a manner. And the lashings aren't stopping any time soon I fear. 

Hard to say. I feel like Bionic was a bigger mess just because it was such a dramatic tone shift for Xtina who was relatively well liked before the album, it was synonymous with "flop" in stan vernacular for like 5-6 years afterwards. 

 

143 went as badly as it could but it was following about a decade of Katy being a stan twitter punching bag so it felt more.. inevitable? Also let's be honest, Katy is being talked about more right now than probably in her entire career so while it's terrible press, it's press nonetheless. 

143 bigger BOMB, bigger backlash, and most deserving with that quality too.

143 kinda... flopped at flopping if it makes sense? It was just sad. Bionic is the most iconic flop of all time... it was big, iconic, legendary (complimentary).

Artpop is known as a flop era in pop circles but the numbers suggest otherwise.

Christina said that the album was ahead of its time and people with taste would appreciate it. 

Bionic is a good album. Her second best.

143 is seeing a resurgence on streaming and itunes and will probably garner acclaim in the long run. 

With the way everyone talks about Bionic I kinda just assumed that it literally sold nothing, it's singles did nothing, and that 143 was somehow automatically bigger, but NMT charted at #23, Woohoo charted, and the album debuted with 110k. That's not terrible? Like that's a decisive flop for Xtina's standards at the time, but the way that actually would've been an undeniable improvement for Katy's career had that been how 143 went...

 

X had a ~'hit' movie that year not too long after the album. I think she still had a place at the pop table moving forward after Bionic (pretty good album) even if she stopped trying.

I fear 143 is one of the worst received/selling/quality female albums of all time… usually "bad" albums have one of the 3 and are able to have something to stand on

143 has NO acclaim NO sales NO quality

 but her tour is doing well I heard 

 

Xtina wins 

I don't remember Bionic getting backlash. If was just panned and ignored. Unfairly in my opinion. Some of Christina's best work is on Bionic.

You can see the trainwreck that is 143 coming miles away. I'm not integrated with pop culture when bionic was released but quickly looking at its chart performance, it was a sharp drop from what I believe her previous albums before it.

 

Katy's backslash is also warranted because she asked for it. With Xtina, it's out of her control. Katy knew exactly what she was doing.

 

I choose Bionic.

NMT performance and first week album reaction was mostly 'shocked' about it being one of surprise flopping pop girl album than coordinated attacks from every stanbases as 143. aside from perez hilton, public/stan forum didnt seem to response that much about the album and let it flop as it was. for 143, well well well well well...

Bionic isn't a great album, but Christina deserved a lot more credit for trying something new and not repeating herself. Hindsight has been kind to that album for a reason. 

I knew Bionic flopped, but I didn't know it had backlash. lemme give it some streams rn haahah
