if she could find a sound that lends itself to the lyrical quality of her last two studio albums, but with stronger hooks and more commercial appeal and GP hit-making ability, that would be ideal. 

70s soft rock makes sense, but I can’t imagine Taylor ever releasing a grunge album. She doesn’t have the raw and aggressive vocals for it.

I’m sure Taylor follows commercial trends (Rep for example) and knows that many swifties want a rock album, so this would be the safest time for her to release one. As long as it isn’t pop rock/punk, I don’t think anyone is going to accuse her of being unoriginal.

I’d like her to have an It Must Have Been Love type of song sometime in the future

Regarding the theory that she might have bought back her old masters... I actually believe it. The success of Red TV was (is) astonishing for a re-recording, and I have little doubt that she could have been able to buy them back. But IF she did, I really hope that we'll still get Debut & Speak Now TV. These albums with improved vocals would be such a slay.

and Lover remains better than most of the pop girls releases in the past years, and Lover, Afterglow & DBATC are better than anything on 1989

even if she had bought them back, she wouldn't let the re-recording process not go all the way through!! this is Taylor Swift, guys, she commits to stuff and she will give us the re-recordings.

 

The only benefit of her buying back her own masters would be people streaming their favorite version of the songs

The only way that Shamrock would sell Taylor her catalog is if Taylor pulls her catalog from streaming which is a likely scenario when all the re-records are out. Taylor would hurt Shamrock financially if their source of income (streaming) is stopped.

I don't think she can pull her old music from streaming? Hence it's still on there and new releases (2008 live album, Love Story remixes) are being put out.

I know people are growing tired of all the 80s pastiches, but I would love for her to explore this side of the 80s. Less synth-pop, more power ballads and soft rock. She would absolutely KILL it.

It's not a blasphemy when it's true. Reputation and Lover, despite the internal war to decide which one is the best, are at the same level and cannot compete with her masterpieces folkmore, 1989, Speak Now, Red, Fearless.
