What's interesting is that her personal street style is very good, but then you look at the awful red carpet/ event outfits Joseph has put her in over the years and you wonder why he still has a job. Like pretty much 60% of her red carpet looks are tragic, and even when he manages to get her in a decent dress, the styling would just be underwhelming. 

 

Like her last Grammy outfit 

 

The dress itself is cute, but those shoes and that little house on the prairie hair completely cheapen it. 

 

By comparison, her performance outfit was great, and the hair actually worked with it this time.

 

And the only reason it's good is because it's custom-made, so Joseph didn't have the chance to ruin it .

I swear the last time he was actually doing good all around was in 2018/early 2019, and even then he had some misses.

Now... I agree this is the best Grammys look of her career, but Taylor has never had an amazing Grammys look, so I'd call this the best of a bad lot

I actually like the lover era aesthetic. She was doing a kitschy quirky 80s inspired aesthetic and she pulled it off most of the time

But I agree, the rest are either average or down right bad.

I have decided I don’t like the ten minute ATW. I genuinely believe that she wrote the “new” parts (which contain the song’s worst lyrics) from scratch in 2021 but intentionally set out to make them sound angsty and immature so that we would believe they were from when she was younger.

 

My least favourite lines:

 

”if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine… that made me want to die” - like…no. Leave that cringey overdramatic **** to the Rodrigos and Elishes of the world.

“You who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes, sipping coffee like you’re on a late night show, but then he watched me watch he fronted door all night willing you to come, and he said it’s supposed to be fun turning 21” - I can’t believe she dumbed down ATW/Red for this ****. Where is the nuance? 
 

“I was never good at telling jokes but the punchline goes: I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age” - I hate this part too. It’s so clunky and doesn’t fit with what ATW represented. Ew.
 

 

Overall I just don’t like what she did to one of her best songs. Where is the folk/more lyricist? Where did she go? All Too Well originally was a wistful, heartfelt echoing back to a former relationship that used to be seen through rose-tinted glasses, in which the protagonist desperately repeated the “I was there, I remember it” refrain to assure herself that she did know the truth of what happened in the relationship and the magnitude of the feelings involved (which her ex was pretending like they never existed) and later begged her former lover to stop gaslighting her and admit the truth (“you remember it”. The new longer version is a catty, whiny, Gen-Z anthem with dumbed down lines made to appeal to those who make TikToks.

The new parts I like are the " **** the patriarchy" to "You held my lifeless frame" verse, The second chorus "You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath", and the outro " Wind in my hair, I was there I was there..."

The rest sound super clunky.

Taylor is good at many things, but she really shouldn’t be the sole director of her videos. Every single one of her self-directed videos don’y live up to her past videography at all, with All Too Well being okay and the rest being massive let-downs, and it’s showing in the views. I’ve probably watched willow and cardigan 2 or 3 times each, they’re too cramped with convoluted metaphors that want to appear super meaningful but really don’t get their point across. I personally like her straightforward story-telling videos a lot more, let the metaphors stay mostly in the lyrics.

ATW10 is the definitive version of the song and y'all will deal

 

 

Maybe if y'all didn't overrate the og. Never has been or ever will be her best song
