6. 'Addison' – Addison Rae
Oh, Addison. Who else could make the transition from bedroom Tik Tok-er to cool-girl pop star look so effortless? After a string of releases which had fans craving more – lust-fuelled singalong banger 'Diet Pepsi', the wispy, dream-like haze 'Aquamarine' and sweet trip-hop nonchalance of 'Headphones On' – she finally dropped the album, and it was worth the wait. Rae doesn't just have pop chops: she's got range. Addison flows from superspeed club-ready anthem ('New York') to camp confessional synthpop ('Fame Is A Gun'), blending influences from PC Music to early Kylie Minogue.

Standout track: 'Headphones On', the irresistible, whispery, world-building track that cemented the TikTok-influencer-turned-pop-star as Gen Z's ultimate It girl.

her year end acclaim but I hurd the album was forgotten

tastee ITR solidifying itself as the best album track by far

Grimes has been stanning from the jump

we dont rly need her to work with any of these ppl tho, I hope she keeps doing her own thing mostly by herself

also glad to see Luka & Elvira being recognized as well here

somehow this still ending up the most underrated single

My Top 4 Spotify artist.

the way I was a top 100 listener on Apple Music

Honestly, this whole album cycle has been a pure masterclass in how it's done. What a slam dunk!

The proof is in the reception. Rae, fresh off a plane from Australia, just wrapped a three-continent tour behind the album; soon she'll be heading to Sweden to reunite with Anderfjärd and Kloser to continue shaping new music. And in just a few weeks, she'll walk into Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where she'll compete for best new artist at the 68th Grammy Awards.

Time Out: The 40 best songs of 2025

1. 'Headphones On' – Addison Rae

After the success of singles 'Diet Pepsi' and 'Aquamarine', we were all left wondering one thing: what would Addison Rae do next? The answer came in pink hair dye and this whispery, world-building track, which cemented the TikTok influencer turned pop star as Gen Z's ultimate It girl with a sound distinctly her own. With nonchalant lyrics dosed in nostalgia, breathy vocals reminiscent of early days Kylie Minogue and soft, effortless percussion, 'Headphones On' is nothing short of irresistible.

I knew she shouldve submitted HO instead of FIAG for Grammys consideration it was very obviously on track to become her most critically acclaimed song..? I mean not that it would've been nominated anyways but

2. Addison Rae – 'Addison'

Addison Rae dreamt 'Addison' into existence, working from a mood board of colours and vague feelings rather than specific sonic references. What emerged from this vibes-based approach is one of the best pop debuts in recent memory: starry-eyed, enigmatic observations on love, fame and money for an era in need of its hedonistic ethos. In an ascent akin to A Star Is Born for the digital generation, Rae steps into a pink-hued spotlight and takes it away. "Let's see how far I go," she wistfully wonders on 'Times Like These'. She seems destined for a long, fruitful journey.

7. Addison Rae, 'Addison'

The onetime TikTok star Addison Rae's debut album is a meditation on the many shades of 21st century American girlhood, from tabloid excess to Tumblr poetry. Rae is a perennial student, a devoted mimic, a natural at identifying a vivid world and then inhabiting as if it were always built to her specifications.—Jon Caramanica
