Ciara - 'CiCi'

Featured Replies

The cover is amazing..

But that tracklist is sad.

I'd have accepted 4-5 new songs. I'd even be cool with this if she had added features to existing songs (to change it up)

I cannot wait to hear the full album. The tracks that are out are amazing, especially How We Roll (well, tbh I do not know how many songs are out, but I have played like two or three already and I want to keep it that way until the album is out in full).

I LOVE Ci so much, but she continues to prove that she works best when being guided by a label head's vision. E.g. LA Reid when he was really plugged into her career.

The cover is a slay, but it's disheartening that it won't really matter at the end of the day.

She's effectively expanding an EP that dropped almost two years ago (and made no noise). Like, sis. Be serious.

The songs we've had and heard in preview form thus far don't present as comeback-worthy and don't even really lend themselves to viral-ity. It all ranges between "mid" and "nice".

I've always pushed back on the suggestion that she's making music "just because" or "wasting her family's money", but I'm really trying to understand the end-goal (if it's not the aforementioned). She doesn't tour aggressively. It typically gives "as and when", she's not glued to the festival circuit either.

As a fan, her "I make music because...why not?" approach would be appreciated if it was actually good and there was more structure in her attempt at at least pretending to be an active artist.

She said that in some instances, music is her platform to do other things (brand deals, business ventures), so basically keeping her "portfolio" up, active, and running. And I respect that. But yeah, from the music side of things, I understand you want streams of how we roll, but for us who are already listening to the whole "EP" all this time, it's like a non-event. One new song? OK, it's kind of like a single for us.

cover of the album is so iconic. i really wish it would give musically, i cant believe she kept wassup, run it up and all those horrendous songs

in all fairness, i understand boosting songs that didn't do as well but not sure for how much more streams are u "selling" integrity, the other week bad bunny who you would think doesnt need to compromise for streams made music video for least streamed song off the album (bokete) in poor attempt for stream or two. week later its still weakest. u cant make people stream what they dont want. i may be naive but i think good music speaks for itself.

I understand why she can't let How We Roll go albumless, but this is the strangest handling of an EP/album I've ever seen lol.

:( this is such a big theme with her

she'll record the most amazing song but it won't make the album

she'll have the most amazing come back song but then she'll follow up with something totally left field

she'll get booked for a big performance but performing a single that was DOA

She'll have a stunning big budget video but the song sucks

if the current sound is pop, she releases generic urban singles, if it's urban she releases generic pop singles

I Just….

Yeah I think it's all branding at this point.  Her music all sounds commercially, like they all have the potential to be used for a target commercial or something for espn

Perfectly put.

The cover is better than Ep's one but I don't like it either. It doesn't really fit the sound of the album. I think I like the Exctasy cover the most tbh.

cover is insane, but its giving aaliyah's aaliyah type of cover, kind of like magnum opus, not collection of flops and how we roll

I read the description on her ig post and got so excited only to get to be disappointed right after with the tracklist. this is not the best material you could release with 5 years of intense work, specially when 90% of the album was already released. I refuse.

this is a playlist of random lukewarm droplets and a few good songs (I really like how I roll, BRB, low key). we want a BANGER of a body of work. it has been overdue!

I really believe it was her this whole time that sabotaged her own career.

Ciara has been stuck in the past. At least for me, she has been repeating the same type of songs for the last decade. There's no real evolution on her sound, the lyrics or the vision/concept for her albums.

I feel like it's her current husband ever sense she married him her career choices should be studied.

He's clearly pillow talking her! He might actually want her to bomb so nobody will be checking for her.

Some guys are really insecure & want their partner to receive no noise.

You're right! The constant use of the dashes is a dead giveaway. :deadbanana:

It's so funny you say that.

I don't think it's him per se, nor do I think he's doing anything sinister to her career.

At the same time, I'im fairly certain they have the same managers / brand overseer's.

And that's the no no. She needs a dedicated team for her music, both the actual material and the vision/execution of. That's the disconnect. She seems to share a generalist team with Russell. A team that manages a couple's celebrity is not necessity equipped to manage a music career.

At the same time, it's been literally 10 years since Jackie and she kicked off this run of increasingly so so albums (with diminishing returns). It's on her at this point and I doubt much is going to change. It kind of is what it is.

I'm honestly starting to believe those rumors that producers avoid working with her because she doesn't care about her music career anymore.

It doesnt. It samples a ludacris song

She announced today that the tracklist that's currently on streaming isn't final and there's more new songs!
