Totally agree. The single line up was a bit messy! The era also came to a very strange unsettling abrupt ending.

This might be a hot take but I always wanted the singles/music video era to go like this:

 

1. Body Party 

 

2. I'm Out feat. Nicki Minaj (With a different choreographer for the MV. This is when we started to see the creative decline from Jamaica Craft; The choreo makes her look like a bug getting sprayed with roach spray. I hated the hand clap cheerleading section. It was so elementary and cringe. I love that Sean Bankhead was in the music video before his big break as a choreographer)  

 

3. Backseat Love/ Overdose (Dual release) : One for Urban and one for Pop; at the time that was a good way to get album coverage on radio and by this point she was getting good response from radio. Would of gave the album longevity and time for her to prepare to close out the era and transition to making a new album.  

 

4. DUI Remix (featuring a Rapper like Drake or Jcole) : not only would have this offered new life to the song but this would also gave the track that extra oomph it would of needed. I always LOVED DUI because it sounded mature and it was giving growth musically and the feature would of been an icing on the cake.  

 

5. Sophomore  or Super Turnt Up (Remix with Missy?) or both to close out the era.  Both songs were urban heavy while having that signature Ciara sound while also sounding fresh at the time. Such a wasted opportunity. 

 

To be a fan during this era felt like a good fever dream UNTIL she got pregnant and cheated on by PAST. Also Jay Z dropping his "surprise" album the same week as Ciara blocking her from the #1 spot and potentially taking away interest and sales from her. It was such a tragedy. I remember just being so grateful that for once things went smoothly until this point. Her announcing her pregnancy felt like a stab in the back considering all the hard work and support we put in to support the era and many of us seeing the red flags from Future. She chose the D appointment over her fans and that had such a consequence on her career it's sad.

Read My Lips is a bop but didn't elevate Ciara's sound so that's why I don't think it should of been a single but still a bop and I still think of the Elmo bopping meme because of it 🤭

Ciara (Self titled) was such solid album. Despite all that transpired afterwards, I really believed she was going to build off of that sound and it was something many people were looking for and then she released Jackie and Beauty Mole   and set of chitterlings singles and songs (With the exception of Ecstasy and Wassup)

Turns out "Overdose" was the third single on Ciara in September 2013 and was serviced to both urban and rhythmic contemporary stations, but it did not pick up, and further plans were nixed.

Saying I'm Out should've been the second single when it was and it flopped & cut the era's steam is

2. Overdose (As a pop single, not an Urban song ) 

3. Backseat Love (Remix with a rapper)

Song has been playlisted on the biggest web radio in my country that is pretty much played in all coffee shops, stores, malls, offices, and let me tell you it sounds amazing on radio and sounds like a smash.

It's because she got PREGNANT and from a business perspective I'm sure the label was not happy about that.  Also, Ciara and/or the label (like always) took way too long to get Overdose going because it seemed like at the time that they were trying to push I'm Out to be a bigger hit than what it was when it was clear the song wasn't going to do any more damage than it did. 

 

In general terms not directed at you: We can't blame everything on the label, even though Epic was def wishy washy. Imagine having a hit, and semi hit; arguably having one of the biggest comebacks after flopping so hard but then getting pregnant right afterwards in the middle of an era???? Like Ciara did that to herself sorry. I'm happy she found love but she moved so quickly with that alien and many of us did NOT deserved to be left behind like that in the middle of an era after supporting her as hard as we did. As a day one fan that felt like a stab in the back. Despite this I still supported her afterward during Jackie. Gave her my same full support but by Beauty Marks it started to be evident that she had a play in her own demise, something I was blind about for the longest time because I wanted to see her win and felt enraged that she was done so dirty in her career.

While I don't think I'm Out was this great song, the Nicki Minaj feature was a good way to get fan engagement and sales. While im not the biggest Nicki fan she did at the time bring a lot of engagement to sales and radio play just off her name alone. I think the feature was wasted on such a mid song, but it did serve its purpose at the time and I wouldn't have it any other way because we needed that engagement before album release. 

 

I don't get the Living it Up love, the song is basic and doesn't scream smash hit to me. The only thing saving that song is Nicki but it felt very Rihanna - Fly feat. Nicki 2.0 to me but a downgrade. It sounds like a Caribbean Kids Bop mess. It's giving game cube Super Mario Sunshine beat.  Girl bye.

Epic has been and always will be a sh*t label; I've hated them for decades. DECADES. Never will ever like them again.

Not too much on Epic, while as of late they been **** they did pick Ciara up from the lowest point she was in her career and did invest in her comeback for Self titled. So for that I do thank them, when she got pregnant in the middle of an era it was clear they stopped investing in her. Can you blame them? Sorry but I don't.

I've made my feelings about the label known, as a whole. I hate the label as a whole. Jive should've remained open and Epic should've closed down.

Wait you got it backwards. Jive is the reason Ciara flopped with Fantasy Ride and lead to her commercial demise. I'm sorry but to say Jive should of remained opened is WILD, considering they paid radio stations to not play her music. Sorry love you gotta do more research on your statement.

Ciara wasn't the only one that was being sabotage by Jive FYI and Epic has been responsible of the success of many legends so I genuinely don't get your opinion unless you expand and give me specific examples. lol this topic is not about cici album haha, you guys made it about im out?? 

It's very curious that, at present, only Amazon has the album listed; no streaming platform that I can see has the album. Only the EP is present; perhaps the EP is why the album (of the same title) is not present at this moment? Or she could still be working on finalising those track listings, etc., especially if she's still recording.
