    I personally find Rainbow a little underrated, and Eternal Sunshine a bit overrated. Like nothing on Eternal Sunshine is as good as my hair, safety net or pov, no shade.

    I love both albums but yeah, Petals alone clears completely. Despite Rainbow being super rushed, Mariah's songwriting is miles above Ari's and the way she's so candid about her struggles and her personal experiences just wins me over every time.

    gonna say heartbreaker only cuz that's the first Mariah album i ever listened to front to back when i was young , was definitely one of the albums that shaped my love of R&B

     

    but that just goes to show how good it is to me bc Eternal Sunshine is one of my favorite albums in recent memory. they're both such immaculate records , and without Mariah's impact we wouldn't have Ariana :heart:

    I'm not sure how we can compare an album that came out 25 years ago to an album that came out last year without recency bias but Rainbow is massively underrated as @beyonceparkwood said because of the messiness surrounding it but Mariah is a much much better writer and singer than Ariana and the latter doesn't have any albums that match up to Mariah's.
