Miley Cyrus - 'Something Beautiful'

Featured Replies

Finally had the chance to listen to this album and it's amazing (I'm sure it will even get better and better with each new listen)

the only song that does nothing for me is the title track tho, the rest is wonderful

Miley might be my favorite artist at the moment tbh. She's so versatile, her personality is to die for, she's always VERY authentic and none of that pretentious **** that other female popstars do, and

Walk of Fame is seriously one of the best songs she's ever made… unbelievably good, 6-minute pop perfection

I need to stream her whole discography again starting with her Hannah Montana work ddf

Might be her best album. Almost every song clicked with me. Her previous weren't that cohesive

i will not tolerate ESV slander in this thread, it was also sooo good

also i feel like without ESV we wouldn't get SB, i can't explain how but these two records are intertwined somehow for me

I completely agree!

The way my edible has hit and this is genuinely my fav release in a long time

Stan it sis!

I enjoyed her last project Endless Summer Vacation (A- record in my opinion), but this album is tiring. I think it works as a "movie" more than an album. Interlude 1/2 should be left off the project on streaming.  Something Beautiful, End of the World, Easy Lover, Pretend You're God, Every Girl, MAYBE Reborn, and Give Me Love are only tracks worthy of being album tracks. So much filler otherwise. And I just wouldn't replay most of this album. It feels like she's trying to be sophisticated and going for style more than substance, because most of the songs are just poetic without much actual depth. She did not have much to say on this album, other than using an analogy of love to an ethereal experience, which can get old and cumbersome to delve in across 11 tracks. My favs have asterisk.

1. Prelude - Feels like an intro to a movie, so it's fitting since this is a visual album.

2. Something Beautiful - It's a complex and sophisticated song at its best, and disconnected and unstructured at its worst. I appreciate the creativity, despite not seeking to listen to this again.

***3. End of the World - FUN!  BEST SONG ON THIS RECORD, BECAUSE STYLE/SUBSTANCE EVERYTHING IS PERFECT HERE.

4. More to Lose - Snooze fest.

5. Interlude 1 - Again only to add to the "movie" feel. But this one annoyed me because it was an instrumental. Waste of a track.

6. Easy Lover - It's cute because it has a funky disco 80's vibe, but besides the chorus, does nothing for me to want to replay it. The substance/lyrics is kind of lacking compared to the sound.

7. Interlude 2 - Moving on..

8. Golden Burning Sun - Filler. I enjoyed the lyrics, but it sounds like an Endless Summer Vacation reject.

9. Walk of Fame - Filler.

***10. Pretend You're God - Very Lana Del Rey. I enjoyed this one. LOVE IT.

11. Every Girl You've Ever Loved - Very Lady Gaga. I enjoy it more than other tracks, despite the loudness.

12. Reborn - Experimental but again similar thoughts as Something Beautiful. I appreciate it but would never replay it. Also more repetitive and less unique than Something Beautiful.

***13. Give Me Love - Cute scenic closing track.

Easy Lover down 111 places on global spotify, we should get midweek updates tomorrow

The way this might end of being my album of the decade (and it's been such a strong decade :jonny:) … this is what I've been waiting for pop music to become

I hope next experimental project of hers is more like DEAD PETZ, cut the crap and fancy metaphors, and just tell me how you feel Miley!! Pablo the blowfish style

Oh Godley :jonny: another 10/10 album!

Easy Lover, Walk of Fame, Every Girl, Reborn >>>>>>

I havent listened this album yet cause im really busy with uni.homework
but once im free i will put my review here
endless summer vacation is my favorite album this decade.
People **** on it but i love the Californian concept and all the songs are really relatable to my current space in life. Im livin some sort of endless summer vacation
River is iconic.

So imagine how excited im about this record :gaycat4:

Love her but why do all of her album closers always suck? :coffee2:

My Heart Beats for Love is literally top 15 in her discography….what are you talking about? :deadbanana:

Why does this only have 8 reviews on metacritic. If she could get 3 more positive 75+ scores she'd be at like 78

I have noticed they all have a similar, nostalgic vibe. GML reminds me a lot of Golden G String but GML is so much better

The album is incredible. With an album this experimental especially as far as the production goes though, it shouldn't be expected to have seen commercial success even with the Spotify playlisting. It's her most experimental project yet accompanied by Dead Petz. All the melody changes throughout the songs keep it so interesting. And I'm definitely hearing the sound she described when Something Beautiful was first mentioned in that magazine interview. Honestly it's almost a 180 in terms of sound from ESV. At least in my opinion. Love it.
