This is wholeheartedly one of the best albums of the year. Miley has truly reached new heights creatively.

Damn what a ride  whoever said it was her most experimental album yet was right! I relistened to Dead Petz earlier and even though half of that album is psych-pop/rock and it's very long it's still pretty in line with the structures and melodies of that genre and pop itself, this one however is really a whole other beast in terms of experimentation  in that sense I do feel like leading the album up with End of the World, More to Lose and Easy Lover was definitely a right choice as they're all three easily the only traditional pop songs on here. I can see this album being extremely divisive, even I'll probably need a couple of listens to digest it thoroughly. Gotta give it to her though, she could've easily followed ESV up with another well made adult contemporary leaning album in the veins of Flowers or Jaded but you can HEAR she really wanted to challenge herself and create an album that no other mainstream artist would currently dare to realize and release, just like she did 10 years ago with DP. And just like DP I can see people either LOVING or HATING this, so after listening to it I'm actually not surprised at critics being either overwhelmingly positive or trashing it to the ground just like they did with DP. OK! First thoughts. Off to a second listens! Weeeeee mileeeeeene

Golden Burning Sun - would be my current trinity easily.

 

PYG being a grown up, sophisticated yet more haunting Cyrus Skies is INSANE. the second half gagged tf out of me.

Reborn giving Breathe On Me by Britney but make it even gayer like- i NEED to hear this in a club, immediately

GBS absolutely ending the demo version... was not expecting her to turn this into a Kim Carnes'd 80's type glistening chill bop.

 

 

+ some of y'all have GOT TO stop whining about GBS's demo. the released version is miles better so move along!

 

 

• Easy Lover should've had a switch up moment imo. That one along with EOTW are my least faves probably.
• The way both interludes eat EL up  They absolutely are nice additions to the record. 2>1.
• Walk of Fame is giving me Liberty Walk but turn it into a Kylie + Jessie Ware'd bop! An absolute gag. Brittany enhanced the track so so so much. Loved her.
• Every Girl could've been done with RuPaul instead of... that girlie  but STILL, i love me a modern day Vogue!
• Reborn...re-fu*****-born. I have no words to describe how much of a slayage that this is. Straight up insanity from start to finish. Insanely GAY!
• Oh the way Reborn goes into Give Me Love which is thee perfect ending to this record. It's giving old animated fairytale-y Barbie movie soundtrack  Very sweet, beautiful and yet another gag!
