Both are the 2 most streamed tracks of Taylor's magnum opus folklore

But which one do you prefer?

Which one is more iconic?

Cardigan is an elevated composition IMO (the dolby atlas stems sound like entering heaven), but I do think august and "salt air" have a chokehold on TikTok (whereas Cardigan's own virality came out of it being a good song, and not the essence of the song itself), so I'd call august more iconic. Both are career 11/10s, though so it hardly matters

I prefer august and I think it is more iconic, but I also think cardigan is 'better' than august. But august is the song I'm most likely to go to on folklore.

I hate that you made me choose between my two babies, but I prefer august a bit more. However, cardigan is more "iconic" in the sense that that bridge is always over Tik Tok.

Cardigan is such a well crafted, well written song. One of Taylor's best.

that being said, august is probably more iconic in the long run. Relatable and "catchier" plus the fact that people overplay it every summer.
