I dont know if I'd say "work ethic" is the problem. But moreso vision. 

 

She's kind of like Chris Brown without the bops lol (in recent years lol).

 

There's never a vision or throughline to the albums. It's just jukebox-ing. This sound here, that sound there. 

 

You can always be assured of a good-great video, but the music itself is a roll dice, with one track having zero relation to the preceding or proceeding tracks. 

 

I've kind of accepted this with her and just hope she can bag her wins as and when she can. 

 

I also think her wings are somewhat clipped by her commitments to kids and hubby. It makes things like touring dictated by things like the football season and school. Plus, she's in a very iffy spot where she's too much of a veteran to open for hotshot newbies and yet not in a position to tour on the scale she should be by herself. It means she's either capped at these mini-tours in theaters that are angled as a "being closer to my fans" experience, or having to wait for the perfect alignment in shows like the Missy tour (which are few and far between).

Been known and said all this BUT I do feel her work ethic for her profession (which is music) still lacks. There's so much more she could do with no cost or much effort whatsoever

it irritates so much when she does this...…like where are the live performances for the song, Cbreezy  is right tho she simply lacks vision and direction. Which is why its so hard to be a fan these days. 

 

 

 

Her album is due in August and she has no real hit, no excitement, no backing. Her fans always ask why we complain so much but then they get mad when this happens

I know it's easier said than done, but  a mini tour or some pop-up events where she performs (like she did in the UK recently) would be cool.

 

She could even live stream a concert on Insta, TikTok, Twitter from her garden or something if she can't be bothered to travel lol. It doesn't even need to be open to the public. 
 

One of her biggest issues has been a very little touring presence which has stifled opportunities to grow a more loyal fanbase.

Yup, which is crazy, one of the things that made her have an edge over her peers was performance........ and she barely does that. Just TikTok's, short lived ventures, and pointless photoshoots & interviews.

The album reviews will be disastrous. And all of those hits she got either independently or under labels that didn't really care or have the means to promote her. My point is she's been in the game for 21 years and 17 of them have been a hustle against the tide and she's come out on top several times. It's been abundantly clear that she's kind of checked out after Beauty Marks bombed and that she doesn't have the discipline, organization, hunger and determination to get herself another big moment. She wants to chill, get a bit of money, drop a few droplets, raise her kids and coast. Hasn't she earned that?

It's not that simple and though I wish it was it isn't. Many of us TRUE day 1 fans that supported her, spent hundreds of dollars buying her music (even when it was trash), spent time defending her online ect feel cheated in some sort way. It's not something that I have much of energy to really get into right now however….
 

 

She hasn't had a proper "comeback" since 2013 when she released self titled 'Ciara'. Level Up didn't have instant overnight success and is arguably the only real song that became a hit off it being viral. It's still in my opinion not even in her top 20 best songs. She rode off that moment and the quality and approach in her artistry had fallen since. How We Roll became what it became because of Chris Brown. Let's be real. She's gotten pregnant TWO times in the middle of what could have been a turning point in her career. Once when she was under a label system and once when she was independent. 
 

Everything she's done since and has achieved is all thanks to the unwavering support the FANS have given her (including myself; I've bought all versions of Ecstasy and the album already) to keep her afloat but she's slowly starting to lose that by the numbers and has over the past few years because of the lackluster and low quality of art in her music.

 

the reason I'm personally so passionate about this is because deep down inside a part of me wants her to prove me wrong. I was once defending her and didn't even think she could do a thing wrong but now I'm deeply in a state that I want to hold her accountable because I earned my right to be and will continue to do so.
