Yeah, people really dragged them hard during 'Girls'. 

Sure other groups were doing better that year but aespa was doing just fine.

 

I still think that all the internal issues SM had at that time affected them so much. There was a real drough of content from them that year and the group just seemed a bit lost.

i think the fact that newjeans debuted around that time and absolutely demolished everyone didn't help aespa's case since they were the one who used to demolish everyone at that time

I have noticed that JYP promotes NEXZ way better than KickFlip and are presenting NEXZ as the main 5th gen bg representative of JYP. This is a good way to introduce them to new audiences

2nd gen - 2PM

3rd Gen - GOT7

4th gen - Stray Kids

5th gen - NEXZ

 

They are arguably the strongest dance group in Kpop ever, even stronger than ITZY

Girl, JYPE has debuted 2 new boy groups in 5th gen:

 

NEXZ - Japanese/global boy group that debuted in 2024

 

 

KickFlip - Korean boy group that debuted in 2025

This is no tea but this next aespa single kinda needs to flop into oblivion or at least underperform like Girls did so that they can get back to being cunty on stage again and putting effort into their performance craft. The jump in qualitea from Girls -> Spicy in regards to performance (very obviously sparked by the backlash and them wanting to come back mad as hell) was massive. Theyre looking sluggish, lazy, and lip-synching too much for me to take them serious rn.

KickFlip has the NewJeans inspired sound that almost every 5th gen bg does, which is completely different from SKZ. While NEXZ is more similar to NCT
