i think newjeans' concept was great and they have great music (like their entire discography smashed) and it's fun, and camp at times, but they were heavily limited by the members ages  which is one point i disagree with min heejin. because it's SOOOO limiting. but i feel like they would have evolved with bolder concepts and music as they grew up, but sadly we may never know 

 

 

 

they were lowkey becoming bolder concept wise but they got killed 

 

i feel like pop music, especially K-pop, never really cares about the vocal talent. As long as the beats slap and the concept/visuals/choreo are interesting, I consider it to be pop music done well. I do agree with Violet's critiques of NewJeans' vocals because they can sound like a choir of schoolchildren being forced to sing for graduation or something. But again, the beats are fun and their visuals/choreo/performances are inspired. I think if they worked on their vocals to be like Britney or Janet and less like Erika de Casier, Cassie, or that Oklou lady, then it would be received better by maximalist pop fans
