Super excited for NJZ's re-debut, hope they drop the MV like they did with "Bubble Gum" and release the song later with the album.

that's a good idea this time around

but I'd actually love them to drop the song right after the concert, that would be a big **** you in the HYBE's face :WAP:

but I'm not sure of the consequences, those are serious things we're talking about and they're already risking a lot

okay?? and i said i knew there were scandals in the west also? the difference is that in the west the artists still had more freedom and actually publicly rebelled against their label and they could still release music also. kesha was trashtalking luke in her music. taylor rerecorded her songs. gaga publicly rebelled, leaked her own songs and so on. one group wants to work with a particular producer and they get banned from the industry, do you think that's comparable?? :rip:

also mind you, there are markets competing with korea that aren't western markets. idk where tf you got that western validation thing.

and can you give me groups that ACTUALLY have a stable relevance in korea beside

aespa

newjeans

ive

and gidle? :rip:

"kpop land" and you just walked in hongdae and even there everything has been replaced by japanese pop culture lol big animate stores popping here and there and when there's a kpop event thing going on it's mostly foreign fans. all the billboards that you see are paid by chinese fans too

i'm not saying it's completely irrelevant, it  just massively fell off and it's mostly 4~5 relevant girl groups and the rest is like either otaku's pick level of flop or completely carried by foreign stans.

Its a circle girl it the first rule of economy what goes up eventually goes down and then it might go up again. It happens with everything, we saw it happen in west with pop girls.

Idols are called idols for a reason. They are not artists/musicians etc U can be an artist and be an idol but u dont necesserily have to be an artist to become an idol. Idols are jacks of all trades with dancers, rappers, singers, actors, models using it as a steping stone. Now when their idol days are over they follows their true path and become the artists they want. Its more like the disney children thing. Were hana montana, hilary etc considered artists? It took Miley several years to become the artist she is now. As for artists who went against their labels in kpop we already gave many examples the other day.

why u have to attact me and be vile? typical ATRL who cant argue or have a conversation :skull:

It was a general comment, thats why i didnt quote anyone

so every member who posts here without quoting someone is talking to the voices in their heads?

and thats another hypocricy here. U  act as a good person figting for good YET u cant be nice to someone who u actually have a contact with

and girl who u lie about korea not caring about kpop? :lamo: maybe u and your pseudoidelectual friends dont, but one visit in Seoul and its like u land in kpop land :fan:

Japan is plastered in anime and regular people still don't watch it. Actual Koreans in English speaking online spaces or weaboos who move to Korea have been saying all along that their friends and coworkers don't gaf about idols, idk why we wouldn't believe them after a certain point. Most Americans who aren't super interested in pop music probably don't know or care about 90% of artists on the billboard chart.

but now that their bunny faves felt insecure cause the CEO didnt greet them they are making thesis on how kpop is vile and the worst thing on this planet and somehow they act as if this is happening only in kpop.

I think this is an extremely complex issue that can't be boiled down to Korea bad or Korea good or Korea isn't better or worse.

If kpop was no different none of us would be in the kpop base. It has its own unique culture and the negative aspects of that culture only become more prominent as they're deemed as not just more profitable but more consistently reliable. Taylor Swift isn't doing fan zoom calls and signing up for apps where fans can roleplay as her friend for a monthly fee. She's not avoiding really connecting to the fans in the audience at her concerts to perform to a camera for 2 hours. She puts more effort into the things that actually matter as a result. That's just a fact.

On one hand, a lot of the global kpop hype at its core, is built around westerners treating Asian entertainers like straight up zoo animals to point and gawk at. It's not even a strictly sexual thing either, these people fetishize every single aspect of kpop culture.

On the other, this feverish stanning only further builds up whatever imagined racial or national cultural barriers there are between themselves and Koreans and over time this can be twisted into something even worse. It leads to a LOT of unclocked racism about how Korean people are so awful because of a fan culture that has in reality been primarily driven by foreigners for over a decade at this point. Like it's completely lost on some people that at the end of the day, we're on a website where comments saying Katy Perry should commit suicide go unmoderated while bitching about funeral wreaths thousands of miles away.

There's a lot of cognitive dissonance going into the "Korea bad" discourse for sure but there's still some truth to some of the criticisms being made.

A lot of the people who have been writing essays in here the past few days are actually some of the most passionate and informed and longest running kpop fans on this website and frankly a couple of them were already old heads when I got into kpop so they might just be the most informed not just on ATRL but anywhere in the English speaking sphere.

HYBE is so weak and done for cancelling NJZ's full album and tour when they had it scheduled after the Get Up and LoL collab

how can a company fumble this bad

then repeating it a year later with undermining their popularity in Japan, cancelling the fanmeet in Korea, scrapping Halloween single and Fortnite collab

the worst treatment ever

NJZ karma is real and will be served this year :flower:

Soyeon bashed cube the otehr day and she signed again why? cause soyeon is an artist .

and if you read my other posts you'd get that my problem is that there is NO pop artists in korea these days besides like IU, Jennie. Soyeon came to my mind yeah but i have no idea what she's doing right now.

Obviously the average Korean person knows IU. I think it's very fair to say they don't know the 5000 different boy groups with millions of sales and zero hits.

Fdjkddkskckd don't clock my tea like thar we're supposed to be trolling and gaslighting him in unison :sabrina:

But there's like soooo many other idol groups who are a-list according to the insular fan culture but aren't really recognized by the public. I think that's what @Windy Day was getting at.
