So then what's Warner records doing?

Im not actually in the music industry but this is my understanding, please somebody correct me if I'm wrong:

A label oversees the creation and marketing of the work and handles publishing rights busywork, they work mainly with music and musicians. A distributor actually produces or commissions the production of the physical music products and oversees the streaming catalogs, they work mainly with logistics and streaming companies. An agency handles non-tour bookings and often assists with pr, they work for the artist directly. A management team keeps all these plates spinning in sync, again working directly for the artist. Distributors usually have standing deals with labels(or are owned by them in the case of somebody like UMG or YG).

Warner is overseeing the creation and rollout of the music. They're paying for the studio sessions, connecting Jisoo with collaborators, and likely in some form of shared creative control given her kpop roots.

Traditionally, kpop has been vertically integrated and all of that is done either in house or with a company that works so closely with the label that they're basically a part of it. As second gen renewal contracts expired acts like CL, IU, SNSD members chose a more westernized system where they strategically collaborate with a mix of companies and paved the way for Jisoo and GD to sign deals that get their CDs up for sale at Walmart and Amazon day one.

Warner's distributor ADA sucks **** so it's a good thing Jisoo isn't using them. aespa was signed to Warner for distribution and has CDs shipping months late and digital track rollouts done at incorrect times. EMPIRE was founded to get artists being shafted by the move to streaming the money they are owed. They handle distribution for some of the biggest names in music(k-dot, cardi, shaboozey, etc) and by all accounts are killing it. You can preorder Übermensch(out Feb 25 :gaymuscat:) at the main physical music retailers for day one local shipping in all the big English music markets and there's working presave links for every streamer around the world. Previously the only way Korean artists could get this treatment in the west is if they were BTS members.

Expect to see more of this western styled separation of teams going forward, it was one of the stated goals of SM 3.0 and where the sheep go the industry follows. :zsgaymuscat:

Is attendance the key point here?

I dont see any huge names and google says Coachella is the more relevant :michael:

Just saw that Beyonce has attended Coachella and never lalaflopa... that answers my question

I can't believe HYBE is taking one hit after another to their stomachs. Its fascinating to watch. :ahh: According to info that came out today there it no way they are winning against NJZ.

Not long ago, I heard from a ComplexCon official—who has been assisting with the concert preparations—that HYBE's chairman, Bang Si-hyuk, personally called U.S. industry contacts, pressuring them to cancel NJZ members' performance.

What US industry contacts is BSH even calling? People that work at Complex?

Also they're gonna perform in Hong Kong, so you would think he would talk to ppl there first to try and meddle

**** is getting so weird now. HYBE and ADOR don't gaf about the girls so what do they even plan on doing with them if they end up winning?

I've said it before but if BSH wasn't such a pos he would make a deal that sees NJZ leaving ADOR officially, contract terminated, and getting a cut of the group's earnings until their original contract length of 7 years is done.

HYBE is gonna burn to the ground before they would even think about doing that so I hope this court battle ends asap even though it won't lol

HYBE is such a ******* LOS SER

boycott their damn company and groups (except ENHYPEN)

they need to leave NJZ alone
