And isn't it have been exposed that Bang CEO favoured LSRF way more than newjeans? So I am pretty sure LSRF is the most payola-ed act in HYBE, yet they couldn't reach the popularity height of newjeans.

NewJeans had a bigger budget and investment than LE SSERAFIM when debuting.

I think HYBE was just very confident in LE SSERAFIM in general and didn't anticipate that NewJeans would surpass them in popularity no matter what, which is why they were willing to invest heavily in ADOR, since it was also their new subsidiary company

I don't think anyone in here ever claimed that IVE were flops in Korea though? People in here specifically pointed out how they have lost momentum outside of Korea. Heck even in Korea, they can't get big hits like they used to suburban

This is false HYBE invested over 10M for NJ and LSRF's debut.

Imagine spending millions and buying a crooked PR company to slander your own artist, only for them to still rank higher than any of your other groups to the GP, even on hiatus rip any other group would be buried. These girls are absolutely massive. Same to Aespa

Nothing funnier than a rv stan talking about some Spotify streams when you were among the ones dragging twice years ago because they couldn't secure a hit in Korea while they were pulling billion streams each year lol gaycat6

Two things can be true at the same time

IVE being a flop on Spotify and global charts and TWICE being a total flop in Korea

That's not true though.

There is some misinformation about that because some people conflate the costs of launching / buying out a label VS the costs of debuting a group. When talking about Ador and Newjeans, they add both together, but when talking about Source Music, they don't.

Hybe reportedly bought Source Music in 2019 for ₩12.8 billion ($10-11M), I have seen much higher figures reported elsewhere, but let's go with that. If you add the ₩4B ($3M) reported to debut the group, that's about a ~$14M investment. Hybe also paid Source Music an extra ₩2B bonus upon transferring 5 Source Music trainees to Ador. (Source Music was also over $10M in debt when Hybe acquired them...)

Different numbers have been reported regarding Hybe's investment in Ador (₩12B, ₩16B, ₩21B) following the dispute and Hybe's mediaplay. I believe the initial investment is ₩16B. That would have been to found the label and debut the group. But even if you go with ₩21B, that's about ~$15M.

Given that information, we can conclude that Lesserafim and Newjeans received about the same investment.

By contrast, Hybe acquired Belift Lab for ₩150B (~$113M), Ithaca Holdings for ₩1.2T ($1B), and 51% of TAG PR for $25M.

Given Ador's extraordinary return on investment compared to those other labels, It can be said Hybe got very lucky with Newjeans and made an excellent investment.

What you wrote makes sense, and it seems like I fell for the HYBE propaganda I fear santa

So it seams like LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans had the same investment from HYBE, and not LE SSERAFIM having more than NewJeans, which some people tried to make it seem like.

Bringing attention to this classic turning 6. It was a rough year for them with Zimzalabim and Umpah bombing, they had one chance and scored a huge smash.

Sad that Wendy's accident happened a few days later and halted promotions but it still achieved #9 year end chart for 2020.

Still going viral all these years later
