Why do you keep pretending that it hasn't been years since Twice has been actively promoting in the US? How are they not pandering to the West with their multiple English songs and features :deadbanana4:? Like why deny the efforts that JYP and themselves made for them to grow in this market?

The majority of the singles they have put out this decade have been straight pandering to the West and theyre under the label that got the first GG breakout in the west in the 2000s with WGs. Y'all will constantly make **** up to gloat about Twice and try and get one over BP is comical :rip:

BECAUSE even though they have performed in western shows (like literally every top group has done), their music at the core has always been inherently Twice and kpop, English singles included, and if you look at the core structure of the group and the fact that they never even intended to break into the west. Idk what was so hard to understand in my post. But I guess I expected it would ruffle some feathers in here lol. "Get one over BP" lol get a ******* grip, no one even mentioned BP here, there are many other kpop groups who have a western friendly structure and music other than BP too.

I think what @Witnessed ET was trying to say is that no one would've expected TWICE to become one of the biggest K-pop acts in the West when they first debuted with their cute concept. JYP's original vision for TWICE was to dominate the Asian market, which is why none of the members spoke English at the time and why they debuted with a large lineup of 9 members, a format that's uncommon in the West.

ITZY, on the other hand, was created with a stronger focus on the Western market from the start, featuring an English-speaking member, having only 5 members and a more edgy concept.

Nevertheless, TWICE went on to achieve global popularity and establish themselves with their signature K-pop sound and eventually shifted towards more English releases later.

Exactly and when you look at ITZY formation. The pre-debut line up was Yeji, Lia (English Speaker), Ryujin, Chaeryeong & Somi (English Speaker). Lily (who is also another English Speaker) at one point was also considered to be part of ITZY and Yuna was part of NMIXX.

And When you go back to their debut year, there was a video where you could hear Dalla Dalla (English Version), which was released 3 years later.

Exactly, and i said mam. The way it's so easy for people to twist something you say here into something as an "attack" to their own artists will never not be funny. :dies: Take a walk, take a chill pill, do something.

...anyway, anticipate RICH MAN by aespa in around half a month time :duca:

JYP and SS are the cheapest companies and their top groups sell million albums so there's no reason to invest that much :cm:

What surprises me is how they don't make IVE tour. It's been almost 2 years since IVE's last tour started and they're a touring force. What's the hold-up there?

but unlike JYP and SM, Starship has only one active group that is bringing money, so why not give interesting packaging to the moneymakers? dives wouldn't have an issue with the other groups albums if IVE also got some creative stuff :chick1:

they don't have company stans so now they are just alienating fans and making them hate kiiikiii, idid etc.

The thing is Starship needs IVE to be profitable. How do you think they're financing new groups and their building?

The lipsyncing. Why won't they just let 4th gen idols SING???? Like, these are the talented girls that we WANT to hear.

It will never not be funny to me that both JYP and YG said they needed to make Girls' Generation 2.0 for 3rd gen while SM went with f(x) 2.0 :skull:

IVE can emerge as one of the biggest touring kpop groups but Starshite is Starshite, we already know that. No wonder miss @hallucinate is having daily meltdowns lately.

:clack:

Starshite is absolutely terrible. They're lucky IVE were successful pre-debut because Starshite doesn't know how to do anything right.

Still not over this Korea-focused classic. Justice for Megan sunbaenim's version. My favorite Korean idol.

the latter half of their career has been squarely focused on breaking into the us and their only large successes in doing so is doing two stadium shows in Los Angeles (one of the largest meccas of asian culture in the US) and being on the demon hunters soundtrack :rip:

Um ok….? So why are you mad? They're still more kpop than most groups from 3rd and 4th gen.

Oh and it's easy to do that as a 9 membered group? Ok lol. Also the tweet @Dialamba posted literally mentions MetLife stadium which is in Jersey, not in LA. Allegiant stadium is in Vegas, not in LA. But sure, their "only" success is in the Asian Mecca of LA. Way to diminish their achievements.
Note in my initial post I said they never "strictly" pandered to the west and I was mostly referring to the group structure and their intention in the early years. They started gaining traction and a sizeable fanbase there way before JYPig even decided to start sending them for western shows and making English singles. That's where my whole amusement at them having such a large fanbase in the west came from in tne first place. So what's the problem here? Y'all are just wanting to be mad at this point.

Rado revealed that Like Ooh Ahh, Twice debut was made for Red Velvet it was sent for their Ice Cream Cake era.

What if Itzy HAD been:

Yeji

Ryujin

Somi

Chaeryeong

Yuna

Lia

Lily

Then what? :lakitu:

Anyway I miss when I cared about JYP trainees but I don't anymore. We need another miss A :clap3:

I also miss f(x) we'll never get a true Sulli/Krystal combo ever again

Im confused with sheep.
SM has been trying for years in the west and failed miserably so I don't know why yall are acting JYP is forcing the way with Twice. :deadbanana2:

Twice doesn't have the western appeal like BP or NJ, a large group with no English speaker btw managed  to sell out arenas in the US in 2019 with zero promo and when they were the « local gg »

Twice didn't go off until 2021 even if they're promoting in the US more they are still giving kpop   :alexz2:

What I still don't get is why not one single Once fangroup boycotted JYP or sent truck for never releasing the Music Video of Cry For Me.

The fact they premiered the song at MAMA and the MV was supposed to drop right after, and 4 years later still nothing.

BTOB Seo Eunkwang covered GOLDEN, he sang it in the original key.

You don't want to read what he said, He said it was harder to learn the lyrics than sing them.

This is genuinely grating

The amount of autotune and melodyne on this is honestly enough to pierce through glass and brick

This cannot be what Kpop fans enjoy

What?

TWICE's first three singles were done by BEP, who does music for STAYC and is notoriously ASIAN centered

Collapsedone did Knock Knock, which was Asian focused

Signal was the first time JYP gave them a title track, and it was legit hated on release and everyone dragged it and said only TWICE would be able to make such a horrible track a hit

Feel Special and WIL had JYP, with both of those being smashes and not america focused at all (WIL especially was solely for Asia where it remains huge to this day but is irrelevant in the USA/west)

Most of their productions have been Kpop driven producers, Korean producers, or straight up just Korean writing camps until like....... Scientist and the pandemic

TWICE is just making music in english but the essence is still pure kpop. they are not abandoning their identity/pandering like rill bad bidness that's dirty work.

ive never seen a more versatile group :jonny5:

He doesn't need it, he can actually hit them notes.
