Mice we really went from being gaslit about itzy and stayc superiority to tugging on Twice's edges a little. This will guarantee them the #1 all time spot on Hanteo as well.

i'll take a well promoted and marketed single over another chop EP that should have been a single with company resources and the members' time going to b-sides nobody over the age of 15 listens to more than a couple times. aespa has one too many of those releases atp. When G-Dragon pioneered the mini-album in kpop the whole point was to not include filler tracks but SM consistently missed the memo on that.

Yeah he’s always had a darker tone. He’s not out here fake tanning to get that. I think people are so used to seeing idols slathered in white makeup that they don’t recognize natural shades. Tarzzan, Mingyu and Kai are about the same complexion.

ppl are doing way too much on @OrbitNumber1. It's not any different to what Taeyang or Ariana Grande did and pointing out that somebody is sporting a natural tan for questionable reasons isn't erasing anybody's identity.

Foreignness and edginess/danger are intertwined in the minds of Korea, let's not delude ourselves. There's a reason every mature or girl crush gg has at least one member cosplaying as caucasian/latina/south asian all the time. Even SNSD who had the image of ideal Korean women was dusting off the blonde wigs and Tiffany english adlibs everytime they wanted to be cunty. It's not an accident that a new hip group has an idol showing off a tan while also doing everything in his power to larp as a black american. We can discuss whether it's offensive or not all day, as tiring as it is, but let's not pretend part of Tarrzan's concept wasn't intentional.

 

TBL currently has Taeyang, the inventor of the fake blasian concept, on their roster, Teddy was there every step of the way when Taeyang decided to stop getting twists and dreads every comeback and still chose to sign off on Allday. It's very possible that Tarrzan was selected specifically for his complexion to mold into his current state. Amber got into f(x) specifically because SM thought that a masc woman would help their next girl group stand out.

One of my earliest memories of getting into Kpop was watching the Hoot MV and seeing an active fight between Sones and one hater in the YT comments: the hater was repeatedly saying variations of "the girls' fake laughing in this song is so obnoxious", and the Sones actively bullied this hater to the point where they had to apologise profusely in the comment section. I checked the video a day or two later (because I loved the song and kept replaying it) and the user had deleted their account. Anyway, thanks for reading.

From memory, Supernova was instantly loved on KTRL. Armageddon was a bit of a black sheep - the Android lover with the Lorde avatar made a thread about how much they hated it (but then I think the thread was later deleted?) - and KTRL was a bit split on it initially, only coming to love it after a few weeks. Whiplash was very well liked immediately, but not quite as much as Supernova. Curious to see how DW fares with people who have taste (ie me and quite a few of you) and people who don't (you know who you are).

Armageddon is the only title track that didn't hit for me. It was fine, but paled in comparison to Drama, Spicy, Supernova, whiplash, ect. I rarely go back to it.
