I don't know why some of you compare the KIOF situation to Tarzzan 

 

I still live for the girls and their talents, especially because their music is really good but

1. they asked to not be cancelled before the birthday live so they knew, at least to some extent, that what they were planning was harmful

2. Julie already had a controversy connected with the topic before so they could use some common sense 

2. they literally mocked a group of black and latino people 

3. they literally used those cultures as a costume

 

the scale of the controversy was too big and the amount of apologies not needed, just like majority of the cases in the kpop world, especially with the female idols, but the situation was completely different than with Tarzzan… he's seemingly influenced by the hip-hop culture for a few years now and I don't see it as acting or mockery  he didn't drop it for the debut and that's apparently his biggest sin. some idols act the same way as him (some only on stage if the concept requires it and then they drop it when the performance is done, which is even worse in my opinion, if you think about it deeply, because a big number of idols don't have any understanding of the cultures they are using for the concepts and performances), wear the same clothes as him, the only difference is the hairstyle. 

 

I don't see how he's racist or harmful for now, I might change my stance depending on his future actions

The darker skin + hairstyle as soon as he switched his focus from modeling to music doesn't tell you anything? He was very Korean-looking when it benefited his career (as blackfishing wouldn't give him any advantage for modelling jobs nor would he have fangirls excusing him) and only started to be "influenced by hip-hop culture" when it would benefit his career too.

This is my biggest complaint about K-pop nowadays. Every "live" video is touched up and vocal filters are added. I can literally hear the melodyne on this and it's ruining the song. 
 

It's like when my faves do "Killing Voice" or "It's Live." What is the point in live vocal shows if you're not letting talented singers SING?

1. he has darker skin tone from the very beginning.

2. first photo with braids from 2022 

3. looks like his personal style is street-style adjecent 

 

he worked as a model. models are canvas. of course he would pose in various garments. same with that picture posted above - seemingly from some kind of graduation or such thing, you'd expect him to wear a cap and make faces or what?  

 

I don't see how supposed blackfishing would be beneficial for him in a kpop industry in 2025, where the beauty standards are really strict and it's not a look that Koreans like - on the other hand international fans pick such things apart right away (as we see)

 

idols get whitewashed - it's bad and harmful. one guy embraces his skin color and it's somehow racist. do you even read what you wrote?

now what we're not gonna do is come for that Tarzan character for actually using his natural skin tone

 

there's plenty of other stupid shit about him to criticize but having tan skin in k-pop is not something that is sought after when other idols have been told they "look like they sell mangos in the Philippines" because they're darker than a sheet of printer paper

kpop is too obsessed with perfection it's annoying let live performances be actually live

I bet a lot of fans don't even know what live vocals sound like without autotune/post-production

My issue with Tarzzan is more that he doesn't match the energy of the group 

 

Bailey has atleast toned her dancing down to suit everyone else but he's jumping all over the place and is not giving group member
