Why was there a version of Check it out with Cheryl?
She looks PHENOMENAL in this clip tho, this was peak cheryl where every girl went to Boots/Superdrug to get that colour hair dye Think it all just stemmed from will.i.am being enamoured by her and Cheryl's ability (at that time) to kinda call in any favour she wanted. Nicki was also huge in the UK, so i think for Cheryl to have a Nicki 'collab' (if we can even call it that) was tea and probably was something to try and set her up to go into the US market. It's kinda a camp classic now but definitely a bizarre choice, especially given the fact it was released the same week as Cheryl's 2nd album

Is Shakira the most beloved pop girl among straight men?
Formerly Rihanna, now Dua I remember growing up even the straight boys would have Rihanna's songs in rotation and it's kinda the same with Dua Lipa now Shakira is adored I think for simply being Shakira, not neccessarily her music (although association with the World Cup is bound to help her appeal to the straights)

A New Jeneration? "On The Floor" soars to #31 on Spotify WW (2.64M Streams)
Truly insane to see her get this! As a JLO defender since the very beginning, seeing her get even a little win like this perfectly timed with the Office Romance press tour is just magical. I think people forget also she released On The Floor in her 40s, in an industry notoriously awful to women over 30, and she was coming off a period of intense media scrutiny and near isolation from the limelight before she did The Back Up Plan and American Idol. The song hit number one in 37 countries and if i'm not mistaken was only held back in the US due to Radio. It actually charted at #41 in the UK this week, so hoping she gets a Top 40 placement with her being here for the Office Romance press tour too. Just nice to see her win for a change

Zara Larsson disgusted by UK food
I produced this shoot w/ her 😎 (and for the record she is every bit as lovely and fun and charismatic in person) Jellied Eels are an East London thing. As far as I'm aware they're only really consumed there. They used to be eaten because the East end of London was historically poor and working class, and Eels were a cheap available food source. It's a bit of a novelty dish now, but they're honestly not that bad (with Pie and Mash) but I get why they freak so many people out 🤣

Ariana Grande - "hate that i made you love me"
I've honestly been so surprised seeing a lot of people say how bad this is? It was an instant win for me that gets better with each listen. It's moody, unnerving, unsettling, kinda eerie at times? One thing I do agree is she does atm seem to have a tendency to do like a The Weekend-esque style production and delivery. As much as I agree that the Dangerous Woman era and Into You etc are pop diamonds we'd love her to revisit, maybe she's just not at that phase in her career or personal life anymore. I'm super hyped for the video with it being a reference to The Hitcher (although from that teaser, I just get more its the Urban Legend of the guy in the back seat) and also featuring Justin Long (!) It's made me way more excited for the album now, I think the rumours of it being a Janet All For You homage and then that AI cover maybe damaged peoples expectations, but I'm super surprised people are calling it boring when i'd say it's one the most interesting things she's done in a hot sec

Ryan Air comes for Madonna
Ryanair's whole thing is that they are rude and confrontational to people and be sassy and it's under the guise of it being humour but for me anyway it just falls so flat. They had a little moment on TikTok but unfortunately them doing this is way more media value than actually operating professionally

Ryan Air comes for Madonna
I also would put money on the fact that this isn't even an intern too, it's Ryanair going viral for being a bit confrontational on social and it's a load of straight men that have brainstormed that line

The Pussycat Dolls - "Club Song"
it's a very, very fun song. Feels like exactly what you'd expect a PCD song to sound like in 2026. Set your alarms for 8am tomorrow (GMT) , you didn't hear it from me x

Better debut? SNS vs Revival vs Problematique
Short n Sweet is GREAT and no doubt it's the biggest, but there's just something about Revival for me, one of my faves of all time

Rih claimed LOUD was ungeneric unlike Kesha/Gaga/Katy. 16 years later, do you agree?
Oh she's my girl from day one but she's my girl BECAUSE she was generic. Like I didn't expect anything crazy from her, i knew she would do pop well, r&b well, dance pop well, she was a chameleon in the industry that had everyone wanting to give her the hot sound at that moment. Rated R and ANTI are quite unique entries i think though, especially Rated R in the context of what the industry was promoting at the time

Nicki Minaj debuts transphobia, praises Trump in new tweets - Kim Petras & Gov drags
God it's actually so sad seeing her demise as she truly did rule the early 2010s to me and have so many good memories attached to her but this year alone she's exploding her legacy almost to an Azealia Banks level

Katy Perry - "bandaids"
If it does well on radio, it could see a huge rebound in January, quite good for it to build some audience now and then if streaming does pick-up post Christmas she'll have a sizeable radio audience for a nice Top 40 peak
-
Katy Perry - "bandaids"
I may be wrong, but this is really good it's charted before it's official impact date which i believe is the 12th November. Would imagine this would do well on Hot AC too, but Top 50 on pop is a great start

Jennifer Lopez outselling Mariah in Vegas
I've actually had the pleasure of seeing both Mariah and Jenny in Vegas, both were great shows with different things about them but if you're visiting Vegas and want the experience, you'd go for J.Lo 100% because it's way more of a show than Mariah's. J.Lo is your perfect bachelor/bachelorette warm-up before a night out whereas Mariah is your nice dinner + drinks vibe. Mariah way more couples, J.Lo way more friend groups. I'm not surprised if J.Lo is selling more as she sells you more of a show, but that's not to discredit Mariah either
