If you could (or for the purpose of this thread had to) live through one decade of our post-WW2 history, which one would you choose?

You would live through the complete decade (so from Jan. 01, XXX0 till Dec. 31, XXX9), but you could also choose at which age and in which country to start.

I'd choose the 1830s but without all the racists 

50s - McCarthyism, racism on steroids, MIC, The Red Invasion
 

60s / 70s - Cold War, conscription, racism, inflation to the nth degree, space race serial killers, decolonization

 

80s - AIDs crisis, opioid crisis, burn disco, heightened tax burden on the working class

 

90s - seems to be the least worst option

 

00s - inflation, economic crisis in Eurozone and USA, housing crisis, climate change global crises

 

10s - social media on steroids, climate change global crises on steroids, healthcare crisis on steroids, Arab Spring, housing crisis, world leader assassinations

 

 

it all depends where you live though. If you were in Kuwait or Russia, you wouldn't want to live in the 90s especially. But you would if you were in America. It's not clear where we're based.

In the US at least, I think the consensus is the time between the end of the Cold War and 9/11 was the all-around best time to be alive, so I went with the '90s 

90s but without the homophobia or early 10s before Trumpism came over. 

60s. i want to witness Eartha Kitt at the White House in real-time

ima 90s baby but i wish i was a teen during that time. 

90s without being a fetus would be a dream for me. I loved the fashion, the music, the videogames, the toys, and it seemed a pretty chill and wholesome time at least in first world countries. Maybe I'd go with the US or the UK instead of my actual country, tho. And I'd be old enough to experience the 2000s and go to all my faves' shows at their prime.

the 90s seems like a nice decade to live in full but being gay back then seems a little rougher than it is nowadays

Assuming I could live anywhere i guess it would be the 90s

Of the above, the 70s. The last truly glamorous decade. But I'd prefer the 30s or 40s. The last years before the 50s ruined everything forever.

I'm gay, so the 2010s obviously. 

 

There are many historical moments I would've loved to experience (Sputnik, Summer of Love, moon landing, Watergate, disco, fall of the Berlin Wall, even 1950s suburban life for a minute or two), but I can't see myself living in those decades.

Because although being gay was harder it was MUCH easier to survive economically. Also the gay community was much more united in the 80s and 90s. Now we literally have Gay trump supporters running around.

The 2130s after all the magas are worm chow and maybe this country isn't such a **** hole.

90s were kinda peak humanity in many aspects. 

70s were also kinda cool

Obama's first term also wasn't bad

90's was so great but 2000's were some of my favorites in film, music, tv & pop culture 

As much as I love certain aspects of pervious generations, I would never wish to live through them as a gay man 

I think the 90s looked pretty cool! I don't think anything before then seems safe enough (although I don't feel particularly safe now, honestly). 90s house music is the best.

Amazing decade economically (well, if you were in the West) and the last decade before the **** hit the fan. The 90s ended on 9/11.

 

Also, my parents are lesbians and they tell me it was largely socially accepted then. More-so than in now in some ways.
