small talk is the worst katy single of all time btw

at least small talk had some personality

Lifetimes sounds like a DJ track that happens to use Katy's vocals meanwhile Small Talk at least was camp in a good way. Never thought I'd defend Small Talk though but here we are 

I never liked "small talk" because of that useless chorus, but the pre-chorus: " And I just can't believe, we want from strangers to lovers to strangers in a lifetime" is addictive and should have built to something on par, it was such a waste :(

 

Lifetimes sounds quite generic to me, I sometimes listen to it  just cause of nostalgia ahah (tbh I think Lifetimes  is worse than WW in some ways).

 

 

Lifetimes is a cute lil song that doesn't really bother to listen to on the background. Small Talk is not that bad but as a follow up to Never really over it really single handedly Kill any hype or momentum. It's similar to WW.

Small Talk is terrible, but I do wish that its 1960s vibe inspired the aesthetic of the era, rather than the sad clown thing she ended up going with. That was whack.

 

Lifetimes is way better, but the video is such a nothing video. It's like a video that the only single guy in a friend group of straight people makes about their 2014 holiday to Ibiza. He probably sets it to Avicii or The Chainsmokers or something. He posts it on every platform imaginable but it still only gets 17 views.

 

Also the lyrics are super generic. Makes it feel like a EDM song with a vocal feature.

Small Talk is revolutionary while Lifetimes is tragically generic.

Small Talk

Small Talk is overhated and if you cared about lyrics and how songs can tell a story you would easily find that track relatable. Only people who listen to pop music as background noise would choose Lifetimes over Small Talk.

The blah blah blah blah makes perfect sense in the context of the song, I never got why it was so hated
