I actually think the reverse. She could easily be nominated for Espresso in ROTY or a few other categories. She's come up in a lot of Grammy conversation in the trades. She's even been talked about for AOTY based on the success of Espresso & Please (though I think that's premature. Rest of the album could be critically panned slop.) I think BNA is Chappells to lose.

 

Anyways, it really comes down to what islands strategy ends up being. Do they try to keep their nominations separate (like the VMAs) or do they lean into the competition.

Yes, you can only be submitted three times and I think Sabrina has only been submitted once, maybe twice. It's why Tate isn't eligible. Her dumb team submitted her back to back the last three years, even before she really had pop music resonance by name, so now her (& Greedy for other reasons) are ineligible.
 

There also are no album limits or restrictions on how long you've been an active professional or signed act.

I don't see Sabrina winning BNA over Chappell or Shaboozey. She is a solid 3rd in line for the win. Tbh she's not a new artist either, the rules allow her to be nominated but she is about to release her sixth album signed to a major label. Her best shot at a win is Pop Solo. BOAF is shaping up to be her biggest challenge. She's not winning ROTY/SOTY with Espresso or PPP. All the previous winners have had crossover appeal with another format. GF will go hard for Billie in ROTY/SOTY. BOAF is her biggest hit since Bad Guy so that will be hard to beat in the GF.

It's 100% between Chappell and Shaboozey. I would say Shaboozey gets since he since to be getting Nashville support now.

I could definitely see Chappell getting it, but I think Shaboozey is her bigger competition. Especially if Beyonce gets snubbed for AOTY again maybe they think giving a black country artist a big win can help any potential backlash.

 

   If Sabrina's new album is deemed a breakout from EIC I think she will win BNA over Chappell.  She has two of the biggest songs of the year and is well liked by the music industry.  When that album drops the attention will go back to her from Chappell and the BNA will be hers.
