Y'all need to chill. It's likely a promo single that isn't gonna be heavily pushed (unless it takes off). It is possible for artists to have multiple smashes at once. Sure it's rare but it's not impossible at all.

I remember when Tate McRae was praised for striking when the iron was hot and then when Exes failed to match up to the success of Greedy people switched on her and said she released it too soon.

 

I'm curious to see whether the timing of this works or not. If the whole album has the same summery vibes then I guess it makes sense to release all this music as soon as she can; imagine releasing an album sounding like Espresso in the winter!

 

I'm glad her team has a good follow up plan, it was clear when they teased this song right at the end of the Espresso video. They did try to initially pretend as though Espresso was just a random one off summer bop at first, but Espresso smashing made them drop that very quickly.

Tate's problem was that the exes/album release was f-ed by the christmas freeze  it cost her all the momentum and was an awful time to push anything new
