the bops and sex jams: nasa, bad idea, bloodline, make up

the bad girl ari anthems: 7 rings, break up with ur gf, i'm bored

the healing, embracing your past and moving on iconic anthem: thank u, next

wheew, what an album!!

1989 has held up remarkably well over the past decade, and would be a timeless project even if it was released today. Thank U, Next feels very of its time because of just how many trends it swims in (though perhaps it's responsible for some of them). Even when just considering album tracks, nothing on TU,N is touching I Know Places or Clean. Putting TU,N, 7R, and BUWYG in quality conversations with Blank Space, Style, and Wildest Dreams is ludicrous (and I left out 1989's 2 other diamond eligible hits that would certainly factor into any success conversation). 

 

Nothing on 1989 comes remotely close to Ariana poverty-shaming the listeners of 7 Rings 

i choose the one that doesn’t have “lemme stay in my bag issa mood issa vibe issa match” as its lyrics

ot : nothing on tuna is as bad as WTNY or bad blood or SIO but nothing is as good as OOTW, Blank space, or WD or HYGTG

I still kinda love 7 rings and break up but 1989 has aged a lot better overall

1989 had better singles, but because Taylor put more effort to it and released more singles.
