Why did Get Him Back flop?

Featured Replies

It has the same fun attitude as smash hit Good 4 U yet the GP said NO!! to it extremely hard. Why didn’t this bop smash?

Calling it a flop is a bit of a stretch but I think it's the verses. I remember hearing it for the first time and not feeling like it was a smash hit until it got to the chorus (which is very catchy), but maybe in the age of 5 second attention spans you need really hooky verses as well.

Lack of taste from the GP and/or Interflop not knowing how to gain momentum for their artist's singles.

It didn’t even peak in the top 10 + it did very poorly on radio

i fear you answered your own questions

maybe people just don't wanna listen to the same song twice

I honestly think the Grammys completely snubbing her means she’ll turn to ballads or more alt-pop completely for her next album. She’ll ditch the rock

It's catchy but I've always found it annoying. She sounds drunk in the verses & the shouty chorus is giving Kidz Bop. :deadbanana4:

cause they shouldʻve pushed Bad idea, right? in its place

It’s always been a bad song.

The real question is why did Bad Idea Right not smash :celestial5:

I like GHB! because it‘s like a Gen Z version of Beck’s Loser and BS’s Pepper, but the GP thinks it’s childish and doesn’t like they way Olivia sing-talks in the verses.

love is embarrassing would’ve been a better single followed by the grudge. But I still believe that Olivia’s biggest mistake was not including obsessed in the album.

Because she should've released Pretty Isn't Pretty as a single instead

It's too similar to Bad Idea Right that was already rising. And I think the Kidz Bop chorus and spoken-word verses were annoying to listeners.

It's really not the kinda of music people listens right now. There are old style pop rock Songs on charts?

Good for you was probably the typical exception only works one time and pushed by the biggest hit was Drivers (vampire is not remotely near to that).

After all sour was made more by "drivers kinda of songs" than "Good for you kinda of songs". So the first style- formula is what GP liked more.

vampire now is slowly turning into a good hit.

She should have gone for The Grudge instead.

But yeah, GHB is catchy af.

the second verse, the bridge (especially), and the outro are cringe

the chorus is obviously catchy but brought down by the other parts

still this hasnt stopped other songs from smashing in the past so idk

The messy release strategy was the problem

They kept releasing singles while people wanted vampire

BIR or GHB should have been released with the album

It's bad. I get that they were trying to recreate G4U but they failed miserably

Love Is Embarrassing should've been the 2nd single and could've been GUTS's 2nd #1

her stans are used to mediocrity like her entire career so when she released a good song they didn't stream

Obsessed is literally my favorite song of hers next to BIR? Like that unhinged poprock side is her best output so far
