2 years later, do you feel like Billie avoided the sophomore slump in retrospect or do you still consider HTE to be an underperformance? Discuss.

 

The album has over 5B streams and 14 songs have crossed 100M on Spotify. I'm gonna say no, it wasn't a flop.

Just an underperformance, like GUTS. Her debut was so massive that she will never match the success, but she will be ok. 

No, but definitely a disastrous rollout and ultimately shows that she probably won’t have a massive 3rd era either.

Hell no. She set the standard so high with her debut but MPGs would kill to have a 2nd era like hers.

 

It's her "Under My Skin" aka a critically acclaimed (more than her debut) masterpiece with some of her best records of her discography such as Happier Than Ever

It was a big success. It might not have smashed as hard as her first era, but Sophomore slump it was not.

It also has more daily streams right now than Planet Her despite having far less hits. Who knew Billie would win when all was said and done?

Nobody thinks this album was a flop

it was a success, any album still charting on the bb 200 almost 3 years after release definitely is, no microwave hits here, only longevity!

HTE was not an underperformance or a flop. 

The biggest disaster of the era was the singles releases which were all over the place, but overall still a respectable era

it's did quite well tbh

No she has amazing daily streams for her album so at the end of the day she won. 

It’s like her Born This Way coming after the massive era of The Fame

 

and her Prism after Teenage Dream

Some singles did bad/ok but overall it's not a flop 

I see Happier Than Ever as her Speak Now and both albums are definitely a decline from their predecessors but still did well when compared to the rest of their peers

The main track saved the era

 

and it wasn’t a flop, not even an underperformance 

 

Anything coming after WWAFA was meant to do lower numbers

There will be threads like this if TS Elevenson doesn't cross the 1 million mark during its first week.

Her BEST era. People already coming around to it. She got the silliest backlashes just for a backlash
