Continuing the trend of Billie/Lorde threads today

 

Two extremely talented, impactful, and acclaimed Grammy-winning ladies. Who had the better first three projects?

 

  

  

Billie has 3 great albums while Lorde has 2. And Pure Heroine isn’t one of em 

As a non-biased person who really likes both:

 

Pure Heroine > Don't Smile at Me

Melodrama >> When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Solar Power << Happier Than Ever

Lorde peaked with Pure Heroine - aged like fine wine. Melodrama hasn't held up (those lyrics lol) and Solar Power was an abomination.

This is my rating as well. Lorde would've cleared if Solar Power was up to par with her previous albums...but Happier Than Ever is just too good. We've also never seen a Lorde release where she's actually hungry for some sort of redemption...so this next one might be quite excellent.

All jokes aside, I would say Billie officially eclipsed Lorde when she released HTE.

Agreed. I personally didn't really get into Billie until Happier Than Ever. That album fully converted me into a stan although I already used a few songs from DSAM/WWFA + everything I wanted. 

 

Have a feeling that both L4 and BE3 will be great this year

Melodrama obliterates Billie’s discog, which is no shade it would do that to a lot of acts you could stack it up against.

All tracks from The Love Club were eventually included in Pure Heroine, I mean they had the same lead single. Unlike DSAM which is basically a proper album disguised as an EP to me.
