Christina was joking during the coughing during my interview gif, i believe that was her assistant or jordan.

Christina was such a unlikeable spoiled brat during that era and Gaga was severely out of touch with reality. Fame got to her head and fried her brains so badly she lost focus and what’s important about her career. 

Gaga was going through a mental breakdown and with what we know about her situation with Rob Fusari, it’s kind of hard to hold the ARTPOP era against her.

 

Bionic was the greatest humbling ever. Christina and her fans were so pretentious and she had to keep a straight face while trying to pass off a dated record that was heavily influenced by her rival as if it were a novel project. And it all backfired.

ARTPOP was a lot more pretentious than Bionic. But at least Gaga didn't display the horrible attitude that Christina did during Bionic.

sis was creating outdated EDM gabaj with garbaj lyrics and tone deaf vocals and bragging like she's creating something beyond art unlike other pop girlies jdjdjd

artpop easily, at least xtina was really trying to revamp her sound and image and had interesting creative choices for the people she worked with on this album

I feel like that one comment X made about Bionic was the only pretentious thing about the era, whereas Gaga during the Artpop era became the living embodiment of pretension  let's be real, Gaga and Artpop are the reasons why the word pretentious is part of stan vocabulary

I chose artpop. I know that part of what Gaga was saying was kind of almost a parody that she was feeding into (see all the DWYW tweets) but part of it was her having a breakdown. It’s kind of hard to hold it against her when she was definitely struggling mentally. The fact that every song on the official release had been produced to death which lost some of that magic that they could have had didn’t help. 
 

The problem with bionic is that Christina did make an album that was about a year or two early but her attitude was terrible. That said, it should have done better. 

ARTPOP was a lot more desperate for sure 

Artpop definitely. Bionic does not feel pretentious it was just Christina being Christina and being mean, disrespectful and even delusional.

Artpop was BAD and pretentious. Bionic was just BAD. Xtina wasnt pretentious. She was just her bitchy arrogant self.

like I’ve said in the past, Bionic was genuinely misunderstood. did Xtina sometimes get a bit ahead of herself with the claims of it being extremely ahead of its time? yeh totally lol

however, remove tracks 9-13, add the bonus tracks to the standard, and you get a pop near-masterpiece. it’s so f*cking good! the era ate too, sure she was a bit all over the place but the visuals and the concept are all excellent imo  

 

Artpop has a few gems on it but felt like a crisis and like it did Gaga’s career more bad than favors. thankfully, she redeemed herself and was humbled by the reception to Artpop. we wouldn’t have ASIB or Chromatica if Artpop and (the initial goal of) Joanne had been successful consecutive course corrections. Million Reasons became a hit, Gaga knocked the superb owl outta the park, and thus she was redeemed in the eyes of the GP. Gaga lived, loved, learned, got hurt, and recovered after all the odds had been against her for about 4.5 years

And that comment was told in an interview in 2012, two and a half years after Bionic era.
