I feel like Justin serves no purpose in 2024. The sex appeal expired in the 00's, he doesn't have a strong voice like some of his other has-been peers, he doesn't have a genre outside of pop to lean into like Beyonce with r&b and Shakira with Latin and he definitely doesn't have any opinions or thoughts to convey. His last hit literally says "Sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all". That's his politics. So... what's left?

I LOVED MOTW tbh

 

I just think that album showed that people’s instincts and what they long suspected about him was true, he’ll use whoever he needs to in the moment (an ugly split from an ex, trap rap, r&b, boyband, etc) to make himself and his music relevant but when there’s nothing there to use to prop him up he’s rather bland and boring. And I say this as someone who still likes him but his strategy is harder to get away with in 2024.
