Why is P!nk’s peak diminished?

Featured Replies

Her peak “Missundazstood” sold 6m in the US and 12m WW, with over 17m units. Which is more than most of atrl’s faves from the time. Had 3 big hits and another good sized hit (family portrait) Yet atrl pretends she only had good longevity because her peak was non-existent.

What?  She had an amazing run from 2000 to 2017. She was the biggest out of her peers globally. Try This was her only tank at the time and still did well in Europe and Oceania. I’m not dead sold 6.5

Lack of celebrity power, impact, legacy etc. But P!nk is great and talented and def super successful.

Her peak doesn’t compare to Gaga, Britney, Taylor or Madonna, and artists like Beyoncé and Xtina feel more culturally relevant. I loved that era of P!nk though, along with I’m Not Dead.

Miss was a huge peak for her and she demonstrated longevity after, Funhouse and I'm Not Dead, Greatest hits So Far, Truth About Love were among the top 10 best sellers of their year

She is just not discussed in pop music forums/circles.

She doesn't have the amount of stans, to urge that discussion + some would argue that her music doesnt connect with the typical pop fan.

However, she is iconic, influential and has the success..so it's a bit of an oxymoron.

If u think about it, she is someone perfect to stan for.

I feel if this forum was full of suburban women in their 30s and 40s the narrative for P!nk would be much different. Just move on over to FB and read the comments regarding Bey, Taylor and P!nk. P!nk gets far less negative/more favorable commentary.

People on here like to discredit her because she isn't interested in being a model or hopping on Tik Tok, etc. to try and chase trends and be the #1 artist in the world. She stays in her own lane and outperforms all our faves so :rip:

She's one of the best selling artists of her generation and has had longevity outlasting... just about everyone so it's about time people put Respect (by P!nk - on Spotify now) on her name.

Maybe because her album straight after that tanked.

I’m not dead sold 6.5m, Funhouse sold 7m, her greatest hits sold 5m, TTAL sold 5.6m while her peers were either tanking or selling in the 3 million range. Even BT (2017) sold almost 3m in the streaming era and made the ifpi ranking 2 years in a row. Thats not even including her smashes every era and huge tour grosses.

Thank you. And the amount of hits she had. Especially globally. She got her biggest hit 13 years into her career. Her greatest hits is the best selling GH album of the 10s (male or female) and managed to get 2 smashes from it.

She's been around for nearly 25 years and already had some sizeable peaks within that timeframe - 2001-2002 and for most of the digital era in 2007-2013. In terms of career achievements she's quietly eclipsed many of her early 2000s peers. Her success is definitely understated in stan circles.

She's a legacy act now with a solid catalogue of older hits, AC radio support, and a fanbase that maintains a vested interest in seeing her on tour.

Because she doesn’t do enough slay mother moments for Stan twitter to coral around :shakeno:

p!nk has great music (pre-Beautiful Trauma, but even then her newer albums have a few highlights), but she doesn't really appeal to the gays that typically stan a popstar like Dua or Gaga.

Because straight locals loved her and thought she was cool unlike with most of our faves

She's not the typical Popstars worshipped by the gays.

She remains an icon with a remarkable longevity :clap3:

Yeah I was thinking she probably has the soccer mom fanbase wrapped up.

Because she mostly did pop rock and the pop singers in the genre are overlooked here… Avril has a couple of stans around and thats it

P!nk transitioned into dance-pop when her GH era came along.

And Avril has legions of loyal fans WW and even inspired your fave, Miss Rodrigo.

Her peak coincided with other girls' peaks so she never had a moment by herself. She wasn't exactly overshadowed but she was also never alone at the top so she's not regarded as much as others.

Re-read. I mean here in ATRL. They never gag for pop rock girls. When Pink transitioned to dance-pop it was still with a pop rock attitude, sometimes even with guitars in the middle.

Kelly, Avril, Pink, all big pop girls at their time that are never spoken in the same way as pure dance pop girls because their major phases were all pop/rock

It's not tho... Most of the late 90's/Early 00's girls have albums just as big. Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Avril, Christina, Britney etc It's not like she was leagues ahead. She isn't discussed on here because she's more pop rock leaning and not the traditional pop girl...Something she made clear multiple times over the years.

Evanescence lashed the hell out of a LOT of people with their debut and Amy Lee isn't discussed on here for the same reason. No one here cares really

Her peak is not impressive compared to her peers at the time, what makes P!nk stand out is her crazy longevity and stadium touring act status.

and she successfully shifted genres.

She should have released 18 wheeler, respect, and/or that song Misery with Steven Tyler.
