Didn’t realize it needed saving. She has a strong fan base, and this album feels like it was intended to strengthen that and feed the fans. I don’t think it was necessarily intended to be a smash pop era.

Lots of the choices indicate this - from the very similar aesthetic from the last era, to the singles (high quality, lyrically strong, but not necessarily designed to be radio smashes aside from maybe GHB). She could have made a much more commercial project if she’d wanted to, but she chose to double down on her sound and image.

also worth noting that there wasn’t nearly the same level of celebrity drama driving the narrative of this era. Cynical to say, but she could always leverage a PR relationship or something if she wanted

Drop the pop-rock sound. No one likes that. She was lucky with GFY.

People are waking up to the fact she’s recycled the exact same version of herself that was already witnessed/ consumed on her debut and she does not appear to have the intuition, versatility or ability to evolve her sound, visual style or brand. She does appear to be a one trick pony. If she does the same thing on her third album she will fade away.

Girl this is only her second album... Since when do artists have to immediately switch their sound and image?

Tbh it’s be best to release a deluxe with a new radio single. These days, once your album is out, it’s hard to generate any interest, unless a song randomly goes viral

Olivia is doing fine. I'm not a stan, but I hear at least one of her three singles everytime I get in the car and listen to the radio. Everything appears to be a success. Swifties are serving capitalist "constant growth" standards (ala Netflix). :toofunny3:

#1 hit, #1 album, platinum, still in the top 10, sold out tour, top 3 acclaimed projects of the year by critics (so far), 6 grammy nominations.

why she should stop doing what she’s doing again? :rip: GUTS has helped her been taken seriously as an artist. This was clearly their goal. They didn’t want Olivia to be another bubblegum faceless girl. She’s playing the long game and clearly has felt a different way about the stardom she reached with SOUR than ATRLers. It’s right there in the music (Making the Bed, Teenage Dream)….

Get Sabrina Carpenter on a remix of Love is Embarrassing and release it with Obsessed in a deluxe version of GUTS.

Sabrina Carpenter doesn’t have a single song that has hit top 40 on BBH100 :thing: the question is what can save the era not tank it.

But it would undoubtedly generate publicity which is what we want .

I’ve played All-American ***** maybe 200 times since the album came out — actually that’s the only song I’ve listened to again after listening to all of GUTS. It should be the next single. :gaycat4:
