Britney is literally the blueprint of the pop prototype we still see today. If it wasn’t for Britney, none of the artists that are currently scoring massive hits with Swedish pop producers would be a thing either for example. Pop music ánd women’s representation in pop were not the same after Baby One More Time and Oops I Did It Again and that is very evident.

Madonna, Janet, Mariah just to quote the most selling artists already exist. Beyoncé, as for her own words, It's clearly more inspired by madonna and Janet than Britney (?). I really don't see what Beyoncé should have in common with Britney at least you don't think Britney invented dancing in pop music.

 

The inspiration on Taylor if not for the fact She has her phase of pop swedish inspired pop (but more inspired to recent artists than Britney ) Is very remote to me too. I would call her early steps and the late Taylor actually "how the opposite of a britney Spears brand can be successfull too".

She was a legend instantly, she was just that big.

yes, its undeniable, she is pop music

yes, no matter how many times people will try to erase her legacy, she is still a legend.

Her and Gaga belong in that weird echelon of despite not having lasted that long and as bright, shone so far beyond everyone else for a short period of time that they deserve to be legends. So yeah I think they're legends

 

That being said, to your average pop music fan like me, yeah absolutely Brit (and Gaga) are legends, but to your average street person, the only people from that time they'll genuinely think of as legends is probably Eminem and Beyonce, which is sad.

See in the process of vouching for Britney you're indirectly undermining Beyonce lmfao, if anyone has more legend credibility from that time its Bey. They're literally peers, just bc DC popped off 2000 doesnt mean she isn't the same peer group as Britney.

 

Taylor's commonality is just with Max Martin, that's literally it.

She is. For me she will go down in history a bit like Marilyn Monroe, I think people will be analyzing her life and career in 50 years. At some point she will be really appreciated and people will say "how could people treat her so badly?". They will even think her baby voice was a genius touch.
