To clarify modern day Ariana compared to my godmother Mariah is vocally better. If we’re talking about PEAK vocals, then Mariah wins. Just wanted to explain my choice because the SET UP

Kelly and Rihanna were obvious picks.

 

For Ari vs. Mariah, I went with Ariana because she can do a lot of styles well including Broadway and jazz. But they're pretty much equal for me and both would be my top picks out of the six names in this poll, if we're considering Mariah at her peak.

 

Ari trumps Mariah's 2020's vocals with ease, though.

Ariana's voice has lost weight and fluidity as well. And it will continue over time as that's a natural part of aging.

I think their peaks are very much comparable and close, regardless of who you pick. I prefer Ariana's versatility just a little bit more. no need to go back and forth about it.

But why would we be talking about current Mariah and not prime Mariah? Like, what sense would it make to compare someone’s prime ability to another person’s post-prime ability?
