Is pretending like Dua didn't have a massive artistic growth from her debut to second era, a thing?

Is Dua's music extremely underground sounding, completely unique, never been done before? No. It is not.

 

Was FN a fresh sound in 2019-2020 that was very much needed after the trap sound was becoming very stagnant and repetitive? Yes, I do very much believe that. And I do believe she and Abel were at the forefront of the nu-disco revival. 

Future Nostalgia is genius. Don't Start Now kinda changed the music landscape.

she's been making dance pop music only for a decade now so i think it's safe to say she's basic, but she does deliver bops  

She’s made excellent pop music so far. And I strongly disagree with that tweet, she’s definitely shown growth with FN after her first album. And I do think she’s going to experiment more sonically and tap into different sounds with her future projects. Hopefully.

It's on the middle point. Since this is just for a soundtrack, it lacks what other songs from her have, and I'm totally fine with that

Basic, but putting her own stamp on a sound that was desperately needed for a sonic reset in the music industry. It was Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, and The Weeknd who brought nu-disco back onto the airwaves. They pioneered the sound and now all three of them are hopefully doing something else now that the trend has been replicated time and time again since 2020.

It is basic but it is good. Not genius, but good. Some of the only genius pop music right now that actually gets GP appreciation is The Weeknd 

 

Maybe consider something in the middle.

It’s NOT a Future Nostalgia leftover. It’s new material for the movie. It’s co-written by some of her new DL3 producers - Tobias Jesso Jr, Danny L Harle, Andrew Wyatt & Mark Ronson
