Cruel Summer, Death by A Thousand Cuts, Afterglow, Lover, False God, Cornelia Street

 

Even for the bops like I Think He Knows or London Boy sh*ts on Bejeweled or Karma easily

 

Just because the album had ME!, people always think it is the worse album but in fact, it has so many highs that she cant touh with Midnights

Lover is better than Midnights, though. slightly.

It’s slightly better than Midnights imo. Wouldn’t go to the extent of saying it obliterates it. Neither are as good as the rest/most of her discography.

 

Midnights is better by virtue of being more cohesive. Lover has really high highs, but the track list is bloated and makes the album sound incohesive. It would be a top 3 Taylor album if she had removed 3-4 songs and added All of the Girls You Loved Before from the get-go.

Lover is ageing so so well. Midnights, not sure...

No because Lover doesn't have Lavender Haze on it. 

I personally wholeheartedly disagree. False God and Cruel Summer are the only songs from Lover I think come close to the high highs of Midnights (Maroon, The Great War, Would've Could've Should've, YOYOK, High Infidelity). And the lows of Midnights (Vigilante ****, SOTB) certainly don't rival with the low lows of Lover (ME!, The Man, YNTCD, IFTYE, SYGB). 

Lover is better than Midnights, but it doesn't obliterate Midnights. I still find Midnights a good listen, but out of the tracks on the album, it has less of a percentage compared total tracks that I consider good songs.

 

Lover Top (10): Cruel Summer, The Archer, I Think He Knows, Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince, Cornelia Street, Death by a Thousand Cuts, False God, You Need To Calm Down, Afterglow, It's Nice to Have a Friend

Midnights Top (7): Maroon, Midnight Rain, Labyrinth, Mastermind, The Great War, Would've, Could've, Should've, Dear Reader

 

But Maroon especially is among my top Taylor songs, so it has a lot of weight.

Midnights has never been one of her best albums imo. The highs are really high, but there's quite a few tracks I don't listen to.

 

Honestly, the 3 am tracks should have replaced some tracks on the standard edition, and then the album would have been better.

If it weren't for the impact of COVID, the Lover era would have undoubtedly reached monumental heights. However, during the course of the Midnights era, both Swifties and even those previously unacquainted with Taylor's music are joyfully unearthing her extensive catalogue, showering the enchanting melodies of Lover with an abundance of newfound admiration and affection.

Midnights is closer to 1989 than it is to Loser, but yall aren’t ready for that conversation.

Both are slaying on the weekly streaming charts 

Both are bad albums, but both albums have tracks that save them from being terrible

Those 2 albums represent Taylor being safe and trying to appeal to teens/pre-teens, and failed attempts to recreate her 1989 glory.

 

Midnights might be slightly better imo

Highly disagree. Lover would've never reached its current relevance without folklore, the TVs, and Midnights, no matter how solid of a pop record it might be. It was initially referred to as her flop era for a reason.

I totally get where you're coming from, but hear me out. Lover might not have reached the same level of relevance as it did without the subsequent releases like folklore, evermore, and the Taylor's Versions. Those definitely played a big part in shaping Taylor Swift's career. But let's not forget the magic that Lover brought to the table.

The album got second wind years later is mainly because the better tracks finally shine and everyone has forgotten about the awful singles
