it's a shame it's not performing well but the rollout was TERRIBLE in every sense. I'm not optimistic about the album success unless something really connects with the audience in a way that she/her team can't screw up even if they want to.

I say this as a stan, I doubt there will be any success considering how she has been going. She has done nothing for the music she's releasing. Literally nothing.

First rule of stanning is you can't want it more than the artist If she's comfortable dropping this album and doing nothing to support it, we should all be too

I need her to revisit the Wild Side promo where she was painting that artwork with her entire bootyhole out, at the time I honestly thought that they were filming/teasing the Candy Paint visuals here and that we would be getting with this release.. such a missed opportunity, it went perfectly with the theme. (I'm still trying to figure out wtf the term 'Candy Paint' even means? but this will do for now)

Considering how things are going for Candy Paint, my expectations for the album are quite low. I think it will do around 5k to 20k in the first week. That's not bad, especially since she seems keen to release this project and move on. However, this nonchalant approach of hers is really confusing because, in a recent interview, she emphasised being a visual artist who loves performing on stage. So, where are the visuals, Normani? Where are the performances? She's got to be. Imagine how negative the ROI has been for holding on to her for all these years if this flops. There have been plenty of notable artists who have had entire careers in the time since Motivation or even since Wild Side who have probably been dropped for less.

Even a certain artist has released two albums and an EP for Evangelion since Normani began this album campaign with Motivation in 2019, it's bad for her I fear.

It's the only thing that makes sense with her dropping June, if they don't manage to secure that then I'm really in fear for ha.

She need's an Urban Pop uptempo bop that's undeniable. They thought they were doing with Candy Paint, but it's just not it.

 

1:59 is so much better if only in the sense it accomplishes what it sets out to do. As a baby making, r and B hit, it succeeds. I actually believe with the right payola/promotion it could be as big as Wild Side.

 

Candy Paint ain't it. It's gonna take a miracle. She could start with a MV.

"ROI" is crazy when she self-funded the WS MV and it's clear whatever semblance of an operation is left is coming from her end. She really hasn't gotten a big push in many years.
