It's sadly the low point of her discography for me.

There are some great highs (Soon You'll Get Better is incredible and very underrated, Cruel Summer is amazing save for the bad mixing and mastering, and Cornelia Street has an amazing live version though this version is not on the album).

There's a few other good songs but for a Taylor Swift album it's really bland and inconsistent in my opinion. It's also got some songs that are, sadly, just bad in my opinion.

 

But she won in the end because it's currently very popular on Spotify. It's just a shame to me that folklore and evermore aren't doing as well.

the funny thing is I hear "Lover" or ME! the most anytime I'm out shopping at a grocery store or at a mall. I've never heard anything from Folklore & Evermore so far

That does make sense, I've also heard Anti-Hero countless times while being out. They were released during the pandemic to be fair so how songs were heard on the radio was different.

 

Folklore and Evermore aren't as radio-ready as Lover and shops like to play things that are easy for everyone to listen to, so it's probably that.

because it is

actually, half of the album is pretty bad but the other half it's good

afterglow and death by a thousand cuts are one of her best songs

It’s much better than Reputation though. Rep is her worst pop album.

Bad single choices and the album is too long, I would've done without 3-4 songs.

I would say bad single choices. It’s a great album overall

the singles were bad and so was the aesthetic. it has some great tracks though.

The only songs I love are Miss Americana and Cruel Summer. The rest are kinda bad with some really really bad songs

Swifties who stan Lover have no respect of her true artistic capabilities. This album is Taylor at her capitalist peak, a business decision to conform to what the market boxes her into, a successful cosplay of what the general public would think of “Taylor Swift”, a white blonde pop star singing love songs, with a sprinkle of activism , but not so much, with matching bright pink imagery to remind us she’s still that girly girl.

and that's it, but those songs leave bad tastes in everyone's mouths so they forget how phenomenal the rest of the album is

Then why is it a favorite among the GP? I hear Lover and ME! all the time when I'm at a mall or a grocery store

It’s uninspired. It’s meh. It’s safe but not good safe. It’s boring safe. Midnights is safe and boring at times, but it’s at least something new in Taylor’s pop sound. There’s some experimental things on it for her. Lover is trying to appease everyone but without the excitement of 1989 or Reputation. It’s like Taylor Swift at her most basic and uninteresting.

-weakest album concept, considering none of her best love songs are even on the album called Lover

 

-only like one song is in the top 50 of Taylor’s discography (and, no, it isn’t Cruel Summer)

 

-it is a blatantly a safe and inoffensive album meant to pander (in terms of songs, visuals, and public image) to basics and casual listeners, which is in itself offensive

 

 

It’s her worst album and era, and hopefully always will be.
