I actually hate it. It's always a gift and a curse having a lead single be that monster sized. This happened with Rihanna and We Found Love. It literally canabalized every single that followed. In which that album had some amazing singles. All in which failed up until Where Have You been when WFL finally decided to cool off.

This. ESV would've probably flop even harder than Younger Now without a big single to carry it without a rollout. 

 

Commercial performance aside, this "era" only felt slightly eventful during the countdown for Flowers and then it's initial run, partly because of all the media related to...made-up fan stories.
