Rihanna - Unapologetic appreciation thread

Featured Replies

This used to be considered one of Rihanna's best albums after Loud but since ANTI people barely talk about Unapologetic. Phresh Out The Runway should have been on the setlist

Diamonds and Pour It Up are still that ******* to this day, but Loveeeeeee Song ended careers.

Would be a 10/10 album if you removed a couple tracks like Right Now

Not with that ugly ass production courtesy of David Guetta :mazen:

Loveeeeeee Song is still a masterpiece tho. And one of her best songs ever. Along with No Love Allowed :WAP: overall the album hasn’t aged well, but it was extremely good at the time.

This album is pretty perfect if you delete Numb and Right Now

Exactly this.

No Love Allowed, Get It Over With and Diamonds are the trinity. Without the two songs mentioned above, Unapologetic would be her best album, yes above ANTI.

Also Numb could literally pass as an ANTi track, I never got the hate.

Would have been better than that overrated Wild Thoughts.

Dont forget this gem

Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary is top tier in her discography :jonny:

i still think this is her best album. she was insane for love without tragedy/mother mary, it’s so good.

Anti and Unapologetic are very close in being her two best albums. Loveeeee Song, Get It Over With, Pour It Up, Phresh Out The Runway, Nobody's Business and Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary are elite.

lollll damn were you looking at my last.fm earlier? :deadbanana4: or did you somehow look at my search history and looking back at old ATRL threads? you read my mind @ OP, i’d been thinking about how Unapologetic was misunderstood all sunday, listening to it and reminiscing…

anyway, i love it. it delves into feelings mainstream pop albums rarely tackle. I compared it to Reputation earlier to my friend Eliana (fellow Swiftie/Navy). i think it’s been SO misunderstood, and has aged well overall. the only song that’s a real ol’ skip for me is Right Now. Diamonds is top 10 Rihanna songs for me, easily. such a stunning track, along with What Now, Stay, Love without Tragedy/Mother Mary, Get It Over With… so much vulnerability on this album. the misogyny and condescension in the critical reviews… that’s what’s aged the poorest about that era. she was being candid in these lyrics. and she was only 24, so i feel like it still came from a young soul who had been through so much in so little time. i found it relatable, and as a 26 year old i still do to some degree. at this point, i’ll easily put it in her album trinity :clap3: there’s a lot to unpack throughout its runtime, i could write a whole essay about it tbh

the way i managed to sneak numb into the queue at a house party i was at recently :jonny:

such a classic

Numb was ALWAYS that girl - the girls that get it >>>>>>>>

Yesss. Numb is that *****!

I think it is a great album and should’ve cemented Rihanna’s as a quality act and not just a singles artist in the same way ANTI did, but it was held back by lackluster reviews that in hindsight were mostly focused on her coming back with Chris Brown and dragging her for it than on the music itself.

Stay, Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary, Lost In Paradise age GEMS

Right Now was a crime against society. But the album is really great yeah.

Right Now is the only real dud, still a 10/10 album though and a very close 2nd in her discography :jonny6:
