Bomb is much worse than a flop, obviously.

Flop: Bionic

Bomb: Lotus

I say this as an Xtina stan :sorry:

From worse to worst:

Underperform

Flop

Bomb

Not sure where I would place tanked.

I would say tanked is a song/album that had buzz or minimal success initially, but failed to take off and disappeared

For MPG's

Underperforming is like Chained To The Rhythm.

Flopping is like Marry The Night.

Bombing is like Spirit/American Oxygen.

Bombing is like when your album doing like 200K total sales such as Double Douchess; Flopping is like ARTPOP, album sales is barely 500K.

Based on the logic of many users in this thread, the bomb is the second consecutive flop in a row. :rip:

A flop is lets say you sell like 50K week 1 and then spend like 15-20 weeks, a bomb is like 30K week 1 and then spend like 5-6 weeks on the charts

Flop: 50k first week sales: 15-20 weeks charting

Bomb: 30k first week sales: 5-6 weeks charting

Flopping = ARTPOP, Witness, Here I Stand, Rebirth, American Life, Changes, aka albums that still moved a decent amount of units and had singles that charted in the Top 10, but were major underperformances compared to the albums that came before. But there is still a chance to score hits after this and have a comeback.

Bombing = Bionic, Hard II Love, Brave, Glitter, Just Whitney, The Spirit Indestructible, My December, Double Dutchess, Damita Jo, Britney Jean, aka career-killer level of floppage (although some select few manage to have a comeback), no real hits, destroys the artist's status as a leading figure of music.

Flop - Witness

Bomb - Smile

Smile is actually catching up to Witness in units and is doing more streams daily. Both of those albums will end up with 3M+ units. Far from the mega bombs they are often accused of being.

Spot-on! :clap3:

I would say term 'tanked' is inherently adjacent to what we call a 'front-loaded' release.

I am a Liddo but we can all frankly agree BTW (the song) had tanked after impressive 6-week no.1 run before its pop-culture revisionism revival Gaga has spanned after her 2017 Halftime show.
