It’s been 10 years since her last hit but she’s still on everyone’s lips and keeps being brought in conversations and she also has more Grammys and more acclaim than some of her more commercially succesful peers. Is Christina a legend?

We don't call her Legendtina for nothing. 

 

But in all seriousness, she's definitely an icon. I wouldn't call her a "legend" though.

It’s an endless cycle in stan circles because her fans are strangely aggressive towards so many other bases. 
 

She took part in an iconic moment in pop culture (Y2K era), but she was even outshone by her peers then. She’s not close to legend status by any metric but I’d say she had some iconic moments.

No and there's nothing wrong with that. She is a pop icon like many others but not everybody can be a legend.

The delusion here is REAL. 

 

1 - None of them have or will ever have her vocal range

2 - At her peak, none of them could even touch 5% of the impact she had on pop culture

3 - To be a legend, you don't have to sell 550 million records world-wide, being a legend is having an impact on a genre, whether it's through artistry or voice. Aretha Franklin is a legend, Etta is a legend, Amy Whinehouse is a legend etc... but I guess the bitterness in you has taken over comprehending what it means to be a legend. X and B have equal amounts of #1s in the US, X has more in the UK.. but is that a benchmark for "legendary" status? NO.

 

Also P!nk & Ariana (from your list) are also up there and are legends as well. We're talking about triple-hit ERAS, if not more, huge touring #s, and artistry with an outstanding impact (P!nk with her pop-rock anthems/hits and making the whole aerialist thing her thing / Ariana simply her voice and charisma, and hits). Maybe Ariana is an icon but if she keeps up the pace she will easily earn legend status. Both artists had huge impact on pop culture. The rest hmm are either incredible icons (Kelly Clarkson, Dua (kinda), Gwen, Billie (kinda), Fergie, Avril) or successful artists (at one point) [Nelly Furtado, Billie Eilish]. Olivia is still too young to be up there. One era is not enough to determine impact status.

Several people on the other list have wider ranges and/or better control over their voices. That’s rather irrelevant, anyway.

 

Christina had impact with her voice, but it’s on par with that of Adele, Ariana, Kelly Clarkson, etc. She’s not a “vocal legend” in the god tier with people you mentioned. Pls

Celine has already acknowledged that Christina is even a better singer than herself. Whitney has mentioned several times that X is a voice she truly enjoys and has made it clear what a vocal beast she is. Aretha has also chosen X over many other singers as millenial artists who could sing. Mariah got so jealous that there was a cute little petite white girl that could sing so well,  that she started hating on her, and got so immature about it, even if Christina was just a bratty teenager, still Mariah a grown-up decided to go against a teenager for just not liking how she behaved, and later went on to hate her even more although she had never met her again. The insecurity is real cuz let's be realistic here - Christina at 42 years old can still SING her ass off, and is a much much much better singer than Mariah was at 42. Mariah lost her voice very early on. It peaked 10 years into her career, while Christina's chords are still going strong.

If you don't understand vocal range please don't preach about it. Today, Christina can sing better at 42 than Mariah was at 42; and she is certainly a much much much better singer than Kelly C. and Adele, going by proven scientific data in vocal range and the lengths she can reach with her voice, NOT opinion). Sustaining vocal chords/range is also equally important. Ariana is on her way to achieve legendary status, her chest power isn't strong or deep as Christina's neither is her enuncation, but she's already iconic AF. Stay bitter. I feel very sorry for you.

Suggesting that Christina is a better singer than Kelly and Ariana, let alone Mariah, is scientifically wild
