Ciara is musically irrelevant. Why?

Featured Replies

Despite the GP constantly saying no to her new music and her own fan base disappearing, Ciara still outputs lackluster retreads of her old hits. What happened to her career to cause such a downfall? Was it the feud with Rihanna?  Explain.

Every album has a few great songs that are smothered with terrible filler.

I love the idea of Ciara as an artist but she never actually delivers anything consistently great.

The music after 2006 just didn't stick.

The only stage she can book is as the opening act 14 years into her career.

Her music is disposable. She's a talented performer but music is not it for her.

00s fad. but funny enough there's no nostalgia when it comes to her catalogue, I don't ever see ''1, 2 Step'' mentioned anywhere

You are not going to disrespect the Oh songstress like that

Not only ddid she give us the timeless mega-bops that are Goodies, Oh & 1,2 Step but she also gave us one of the best songs of all time aka Promise :katie2:

So idc the trash gp can suck it  :gaycat5:

It's not the mid 2000s anymore

Her last real banger was 10 years ago.

She lost "it"

Rihanna ended her

I don't agree. I think Ciara is one of the very few 2000's r&b girls outside of Bey and Rih to have a lane and a signature sound and I hear her mentioned often. When one of the newer girls comes out with an uptempo with a heavy drumline, I do see comments about it serving Ciara.

She's also one of the very few 2000's r&b artists to sustain herself for so long. The album sales have been bad for a long time, but Ride, Body Party, I Bet and Level Up were hits and some of those get good recurrent streams. The new music sucks so there's that on that.

It has like 414M streams on Spotify, it's definitely a major classic.

Good luck booking that stage is so iconic :gaycat6:

She still had a platinum hit with Level Up in 2018 and an urban smash with Body Party before that in 2013. Do y’all expect every artist to last 10+ years like I don’t get it since when was that the benchmark?

Doesn't feel like she was really meant for a multi-decade career tbh. She doesn't have the Beyonce/Madonna artistic vision and ability to evolve. But she dominated her lane for several years and racked up an impressive number of big hits in that time. That being said, she's still young and has preserved her talent and looks - so I wouldn't rule out a comeback or a one-off hit.

She’s flailing artistically because she’s desperate for a hit. I’ve never seen someone simultaneously chase AND be late to trends so much. And that’s coming from someone who actually likes Ciara.

She's good, she makes good music and is a hustler.

This didn't hurt her career in any way. She was already "flopping" by that time, that's why the "booking stage" was mean and stuck.

Her career was not impacted by that discussion.

Most artists are big for 1 or 2 eras.

Ciara left her mark and still has a career. Let's celebrate that.

As people already said she has great singles but then you listen to the albums and they are filled with filler

So it's hard for the GP to get excited about her. Especially since she takes so long between albums

I miss the C-Squad so bad because this thread would’ve been flipped on it’s head by comment #2

She's too similar to Beyonce performance wise so the world picked Beyonce instead
