Okay, before you answer, hear me out...

 

Both started off as teen-pop acting sensations, and were the HBICs of their companies/labels (PWL and Hollywood Records)

 

 

Both were part of a teenage it-couple

 

 

Both struggled to transition to adulthood, being negatively compared to the top pop-stars of the era (Madonna and Gaga)...

 

 

...but eventually struck gold with a new sound and record label...

 

 

...and proceeded to throw it all away with side-projects nobody asked for.

 

 

They flopped hard with their attempts at a stripped-down/personal work, being lambasted as FRAUDS (Kylie for being inspired by indie music, Miley for abandoning hip-hop)

 

 

Both would spend the final year of a decade trying to reset their careers with projects that would eventually be shelved. Kylie was polishing up some IP demos, while Miley released the first of an EP trinity that never came about.

 

 

While their careers were in the bin, both would have family members one-up them chart-wise. Dannii got a top-10 UK hit with All I Wanna Do, while Billy Ray Cyrus was featured on the Old Town Road remix, a #1 hit.

 

 

It's important to mention their covers too. Kylie's Dancing Queen cover would eventually inspire her Showgirl persona, while Miley's rock covers would soon be a template for her next era

 

 

Both revived their careers with their next albums: Light Years and Plastic Hearts. Though not massive blockbusters, they were still their biggest releases in years, and prove they were still commercially viable.

 

 

Both kicked off their era with stomping pop tracks, Spinning Around and Midnight Sky. The gays were living.

 

 

And solidified their comebacks by working with THEE top British pop star of the year

 

 

And that leads to the question in the OP: could Miley pull a Kylie and reach her peak in her early-30s, after everyone had counted her out? Will Flowers be the CGYOOMH of the 2020s? Discuss.

Maybe yes. The cherry on top would be a collab with queen Kylie on her new album.

Maybe. She’s been hopping around so many trends, if she uses Plastic Hearts as a a template to grow from, she totally could! If it’s another brand new sound/image it could easily be her next ‘Younger Now’. I think she found a sound that she likes. The vibe feels like an elevated PH so I think we are in the clear!

Wait their careers being somewhat similar

These parallels are sending me although KM94 and IP are miles better than their respective comparisons

And yeah, Miley being her gen's and America's Kylie makes a lot of sense. Both have/will have multiple great highs across years despite varying success in-between. And it definitely feels like Miley can have a big comeback era coming off of the praise and goodwill she built with PH.

Oh wow, what an enjoyably well-written OP  The parallels are spot on and the resemblance in their career trajectories is uncanny. Let's just hope Miley doesn't have to go through what Kylie went through in 2005 though.
